To be honest does it really matter which station broadcasts the game or who the commentator is? during a live game all I am concerned about is what the 11 men in white are doing.

I liked him before he went racist.

He didn't 'go' racist. He was always racist in that casual way that most people of his generation are (and that people of later generations still are, far less forgivably). If it's something you're brought up with, it's not easy to drop. My grandfather (born 1890) would habitually refer to Indians and Pakistanis as 'wogs'; he also regarded Sikhs as 'wonderful people' and 'the best fighting men I've ever known' (he fought alongside a Sikh regiment at Arras or somewhere in WWI) and thought they'd more than earned their right to come to the UK. It's one of those tricky areas where we try and impose modern PC attitudes on past generations.

And, as has been pointed out, he was one of the managers responsible for bringing black players into the game in the bad old days.

Am I the only one slightly disapointed by this?

ITV4's coverage is brilliant! ITV1's coverage is nowhere near as good...

Tho I guess it's good for people without ITV4...

No, I'm very disappointed too, and I don't have ITV4, but have been watching the live stream online, which is very good quality at ITV.com, and enjoying the 45 mins pre-match interviews and VT reports, which ITV won't have.

So did i.

I just assumed it was some Dutch sh*te and freed up my mind to consider the origins of the universe :)

I must admit that I really liked the coverage on ITV4 too but:

1. Better exposure for the 'brand'
2. More TV money when shown on ITV1
3. if you're watching in a pub then more choice of pubs

I'm not happy about this as now I have to watch it in my back room on an uncomfortable chair whilst my husband watches the Everton game on ITV4 on my lovely comfy sofa.

ITV4 is terrestrial... so should be an identical number...

It's digital though so you need at least Freeview don't you ?

Anyway, means virtually every pub with a TV.

Have watched a few UEFA at home this season but this one will be in the pub across the road from my 5-a-side game in Old Street. Not sure if they have ITV4 for certain so this takes away any doubt !
