I get what your saying but the key word there is slow it just seems to drag on and if as they do players come and go we always seem to be playing catch up never actually arrive do we that's the most frustrating thing I think.

The thing is it’s taken us 26 years of PL to slowly draw in the big boys, and we have had to do it without being massively backed. If FFP had been brought in, and something silly like a worldwide wage cap/transfer limit then who knows what might of happened.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Scohlar set us back big time at the most important time in the history of football, though the 2 other things things didn’t help, Hillsbourgh and the Hysell. All seater football has killed the passion compared to what I remember and the ban from Europe football didn’t help (I do think the hysell was final straw though).

Edit: another knee jerk thread

You can put is in bold as much as you like, it's not 'depressing'. Yes, there is a stream of negativity what with the stadium, injuries, last night's result but if you're telling me, seriously, that you are actually depressed about it then you need to go have a thunderwank and then see a specialist :D

And just because I don't agree that doesn't make me a liar :nailbiting:

I got 99 problems and Spurs ain't one of them.

I think you'll find that he used italics as well.

Depressing is probably the wrong word. I would say frustrating as we are light years ahead of where we were a few years ago but we just can’t win the big games when it matters

I don't see that much depressing about the progress we have made over recent years,

Sure, losing to Chelsea was a disappointment but it feels like we are on the cusp of something special.

Ffs its a game. A bit of hyperbolic banter aside, If Spurs make anyone genuinely depressed then I don’t know whether to envy the fact you don’t have greater issues to concern yourself with or to feel sorry for the smallness of your life

It isn't depressing at all. Love supporting Spurs, it is so much better than supporting any other team. Disappointing last night but not in the players because, as usual, they gave it 100%.

Agree but clubs dont build success anymore they simply buy it quickly and there are very few examples of clubs that arent in the top 4 big spenders ever winning anything since the PL began.
Its very difficult, impossible imo, to dislodge those that splash the cash to the point of winning something.
Since the pl began its been those that spend the most win it 99% of the time. Theres odd examples but they are rare.
Liverpool spent the most in a long while and they are top for the first time in a long while.
The League cup now has money bags 1 and money bags 2 in the final. Its been won by the big rich clubs, bar the odd exception, for decades and its the same with the FA Cup.
Now Man City have money as well as Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool its going to be unlikely we'll ever win anything. Even Arsenal are finding it hard to compete with them now.
I think we are doing the best we can with how the club is run but now we are in this position (top 4, cl football, fantastoc players and a new stadium) now is the time to cement that position and strengthen the squad with real winners. Top draw players and keep those we have.
You saw last night the difference between Rose and Davies. We used to have that up both wings with Walker. Now we dont.
It will be a crime if this squad is watered down so we fade away having achieved nothing but top 4 and we find ourselves mid table in a half filled 62k stadium.
The time to spend big, but wisely, is now or risk losing Toby, Eriksen and even Poch.
Im not saying get in debt and do a Leeds but we are a big club, time we started acting like it.

Not buying won’t be the reason Eriksen goes. Think he has had a dream to play for RM, and now interest is being shown

Agree with most of your post though

If anyone should be disappointed with last night it is Chelsea. Despite us missing 3 world class players, having a significant part of our team not match fit and having a statue for a centre forward we still took them to penalties and to be honest could have nicked it. Whereas a few years they felt they only had to turn up to beat us, the odds are stacked the other way and last nights performance will only cement that mindset against us.

I'm actually really proud to be a Spurs fan at the moment. We have been challenging consistently for cups/titles for a few years now and it's the first time we've been at this level that I can remember (I'm 43). I actually look forward to us play whereas before I would fear it.

The reason for this is Poch and the players. They are a good set and represent the club extremely well and are a credit. It seems as though they are one big family with us fans also invited along.

My only gripe is that we are the 10th richest club in the world and can't seem to identify or purchase players which will give us greater strength in depth. I don't know if this is down to Poch being stubborn, the scouts not identifying players or Levy getting deals over the line because he thinks they are overvalued. One thing I would say is that Poch was prepared to accept Grealish & Barkley and there are loads of players better than them.

This is the thing really holding us back as a club.
I agree 100%. I’m proud of the teams performance yesterday. However It was incredibly shortsighted not to get fresh blood in the summer and despite our fantastic league position this has and will continue to bite us in the arse. Some are wearing the lack of investment like a badge of honour.

I think the OP has been misunderstood whilst at the same time, he could perhaps of worded it better.

Basically (I think), he's cheesed off about last nights result and felt he could best articulate that by way of a thread for us to express our mutual cheesed offness whereas everyone else said it in the match thread :D

And now it's turned into a cock joust :(

Unpopular opinion, but these "It's so depressing being a spurs fan" threads are the most depressing ones. Why debate on people being depressed and sulky after a defeat to one of our biggest rivals? Stadium not finished in time etc. I don't have to defend my sulking, it's part of being a supporter. We get on with afterwards anyways

Agreed, thank god our squad which didn’t win anything last season is deemed strong enough to go on and win everything with no further investment needed.
