I agree mate. Keane is creative, energetic and never gives up. He could do for us what Tevez does for United, pressurising the defence into making mistakes.

----Lennon-----Keane-----Modric----
------------------------------------
---------------Berba----------------

Playing like this with 2 strong midfielders behind them would give us plenty of options. Lennon, Keane and Modric can all swap positions through a game which would make the virtually unmarkable. In a similar way that Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo do for United.

This is terrible, I expected better from you van Pommel, for shame.

Hold on....surely any rational high up at Spurs would actually be planning that it is Berbatov who stays and Keane be the one who goes, if anything. If I were that high up it is exactly what I would be doing.

I find it very hard to believe Keane would do anything like that. He didn't say anything when we brought Bent in for 16million, he stayed and fought for his place and proved that him and Berba are one of the deadliest strike forces in the Prem. I dont think he would start doing anything like that now, especially as Defoe has left so there's only 3 strikers, and if we were actively seeking another striker I dont see why Keano would have been told about it.

Keane's really isn't the type of player to whinge about being subbed, he'll be dissapionted as you often see on his face when he's brought off, but thats it. Just a few weeks ago he was saying he was staying here for the rest of his career.

You cant sell a player just because they're getting annoyed at not playing games. Especially one a professional as Keane.

To be honest if a player didn't mind being subbed you'd have to be very worried. Keane's been very professional about it barring one little hissy fit which I'm sure he apologised for. That's alright with me

And what with Jenas and Zokora behind, Jenas and new DM or two new CMs?

Either or mate. If Ramos thinks they can do the job then JJ and Zoko are fine. I think he'll be looking for more of a leader type in midfield though.

No, he's not. You really can't even begin to compare Keane to Tevez.

As for that formation, it just looks like a bit of a mess to me.

Loads of people on here have been saying that we may well change to a 4231 next season. Alot of other teams are making it work at the moment, particuarly Liverpool who have found it gets the best out of Gerrard and Torres. Liverpool play Kuyt on the right, he's a striker.

I was merely pointing out that I think Keane could fit into this system. Obviously his favorite position is up front. Keane is always closing down defenders just like Tevez.

:hello:

the thing is the central of the 3 thingy i was talking about isnt really a striker, its more of a deep lying link up striker majig, i think he could do that job

I'm not ITK or anything, but Keane won't go.

He's been in the media countless of times saying "I love the club....", he's currently our top scorer, he's got an unbelievable partnership with Berbatov, WHY WOULD HE LEAVE?!

There's only one Keano, and he's staying at WHL

These 2 are practically the same, in our current 442 the wingers will push up and one of the strikers drop off (this used to be Keane but recently Berba's done a fair bit of dropping into midfield as well). I think Keane's great at this role and he has played it for us before. The only reason I wrote it out like this was to illistrate the way Lennon, Keane and Modric could work well together, swapping positions occasionally to find space. For instance Modric may pick up the ball on the left, cuts inside taking the fullback with him, and then Keane makes a run down the left into the space. Its all theory and drawing board stuff but I find it really interesting being a keen armchair manager.

Anyway I'm confusing myself with this now! :bang: :duh:

the thing with Robbie running around in mid is that he isn't as effective as Tevez - as has ben remarked by many on here tackling is not Keane's forte and overall he just is better suited to playing up front - occasionally dropping off as and when

He wouldnt be running around the midfield, he'd be floating in the space between the midfield and defence, putting pressure on the defenders when they have the ball.

You dont need to be a good tackler to put pressure on the defence. I play up front for my sunday league team and did for 3 years at uni to, gaffers always say that it doesnt matter whether you get a foot on the ball or not, when the defender sees you running at him he's more likely to panic and miss-control or play a crap pass.

fair enough VP - I still don't want RK anywhere but up front - I've seen him play for Spurs in mid/on the wing and I'm not impressed overall

id personally be gutted if keane went, he has grown to love the club, and you cant buy that.

he is a legend at spurs even if he was to go in the summer, and it would be a sad day to see him return to the lane in another clubs shirt.

Villa will not come to us, he will go to Real, Chelsea or Liverpool. Et'oo i can believe a bit more, but still, just because one of them is to come doesnt mean keano has to go. as far as im concerned, its competition for places.

I think if we swapped Eto'o and Keane (which would never happen, by the way-what would Barca do with Keane?) then Berbatov would be dropped off a bit and Eto'o would sort of do what he does now, and stay pushed all of the way up. Given the way Berbatov gets frustrated without the ball, and his inconsistent finishing, this actually might be a significant improvement, and would let him use his creativity more often.

Not confusing me mate, I like the way unlike many on this site you are comprising a realistic team and not one full of players we won't get.

Thanks mate, appreciated.

We dont have a bad team at all. I dont think it's individuals that are playing badly, its more that some of the partnerships within the team do not complement each other well. The most glaringly obvious of these is centre midfield, with Zokora and Jenas. Jenas looked miles better alongside Carrick and Zokora looks slightly better wehn he plays with the Hudd IMO. JJ is the better of the 2 so I would buy someone who will bring the best out of him, possibly Albelda or Makoun, or if we're dreaming Veloso.
