This was posted on FTL last night by Paul who runs Spurs Oddessy
Well, I've now heard a little more on this. I am still sceptical about it, but I do at least feel that someone has been told in good faith that Eto'o an his agent were at The Lane today, and that his agent will be there tomorrow

We'll just have to wait and see, eh?
Not holding my breath....but I will watch this space/link....

Knowing Paul I know he would not post something like this to gain attention etc.

I seem to be the only person who sees this early Spurs transfer activity as a sign that Berby's deal to a new club is done and we're splashing cash we're going to have soon from it .

Most here seem to think we have an endless supply of cash

We don't have a billionaire Abramovitch/Thaksin style owner .

Well, we do. Joe Lewis is a billionaire, and we're pretty well off financially.

That said though, all of this ITK could be nothing more than just posts on internet forums. I don't think it means that Berbatov is definitely gone, they could afterall be looking to upgrade on Keane?

Is Joe Lewis in the same , splash the cash ,style as these other billionaires ?

I thought we were run on more of a business model by Enic rather than a name your price billionaire happy to pile millions into a vanity project..

By most accounts, Joe Lewis likes football even less than Alan Sugar. Lewis is also currently rather busy working with Wall Street's most expensive lawyers to try and get his own back on JP Morgan and the Federal Reserve who screwed him to the tune of around half a billion pounds over his substantial shareholding in Bear Stearns.

Indeed, it's far more likely that Lewis would be looking to free up some cash by, for instance, selling his major shareholding in ENIC rather than chucking silly money at overpaid overpriced footballers.

Joe Lewis plays golf with Brian Quinn, J P McManus and John Magnier for £250,000 a hole! He's the second richest football club owner in Britain after Abromovich - they are the only two billionaires in their own right I believe.

You're right about the second point, although it is a passion (more for Levy who is Lewis' protege) and so even though we run at a profit there will always be cash available, even in difficult times.

I agree

& we don't have a billioanire owner, we are owned by a company - ENIC, which may have a billionaire backer as far as the company is concerned, but the company is designed to make profit & if it doesn't, he will be sure to crack the whip on Levy, I'm sure.

But we spent £40m last summer and still turned a profit. The windfall is champions league and we're speculating to accumulate on that.

As well as a say c.£40m transfer budget again there's also the Defoe money and that from the expected squad clearout (Robbo, Chimbonda, Zokora, Lee, Tainio, Stalteri, Gardner etc) which could easily raise another £20m.

3 or 4 £15m players are very possible without cashing in on anyone like Berbatov or Lennon.

We made a loss including last summer's spending actually and some of that cash was still from the Carrick sale.

We may have sold Defoe, but we spent £3m on Gunter, £3m on Gilberto, £7m on Woodgate & £8m on Hutton.

I don't believe you when you say we can spend around another £50m without cashing in on Berbatov

Would be very surprised if Eto had been given time out from training with Barca on the eve of a massive game - now if he had been seen on Weds morning after the game then I would believe it a little bit more - just my opinion though

If he's playing tonight there is no way in hell that Barca would allow this. 100% bs.

The club made a large profit last year.

Only a fool would begin to believe this nonsense. There are other more attractive options for Etoo then us. If it happens it would make my year but there isn;t a chance i'm gonna start picturing Etoo at WHL. No way!!
