What's new

Is a back up/rotation striker now our only real priority for January?

I think we need a back up DM. I guess we'll see how we do without Dier now he has a suspension to serve but either way I don't see any other obvious candidates to fill his position in the current squad with Veljkovic seemingly not fancied.

While I'm not saying that we shouldn't be looking, given that it can take a while for any player to get up and running, we should at least be trying to play with Son, Clinton or Chadli at CF for the last 15 mins of games or indeed cup games.

If we are going to bring anybody in then they're going to need prem experience. Another bid for Bera and leak it to the press. Unlikely to get him as it's become at point of principle for that twerp chairman. Charlie Austin...

That twerp of a chairman knows he is running out of time if he is to see any real cash for their only real asset.

Yip but since Sterling isn't the next coming I'm sure the twerp is lunching with Chelsea & Man City hoping to sell an english gem to them for more than we're offering

Kane desperately needs a rest, but we've 12 weeks to go before we can bring in reinforcements... squeaky bum time - all because of the latest shambolic Transfer Deadline day.

With a full blown strikeforce we could have strolled into the Champions League places imo. But I guess Levy would rather risk a top 4 spot and running his prize asset into the ground than spend some extra money...

Yeah how silly of Levy not to overpay for players considering some of the crap we bought two years ago where we clearly OVERPAID for some players who ended up leaving for on a loss you'd think our fans would actually start to get it...

I don't think Kane needs a rest I think he needs goals if he was to bag a brace and a hat ruck in the next 3 games suddenly he would look great 6 in 10-11 games look at Aguero has a drought scores 5. It will come for him, when people say a rest is a week off enough 3 days off ? I am sure a 5-7 days off in the sun would be easily do able for spurs, if they thought he needed a rest that bad. In man we could buy charlie Adams not glamourous but garentees goals.

It is incredibly silly not to have the strength in depth to sustain a full domestic and EL campain. We need extra manpower upfront - no matter what.

And another thing - EVERYONE overpays for players. The TV money has made prices go through the roof. There are no bargains. You'd think that some of our fans would actually start to get it...

Just because everyone gambles and overpays we should do it right? We should just buy players purely for the sake of being fashionable.

Please don't tell me you wrote that with the intentions of being serious?

Of course there aren't many bargains, but you still have to have control in the transfer market, you can't just go out and spend lavishly on players especially for a club like ours when we operate on such a tight budget.

No, but I can't see that happening with Pullis in charge.

I don't know. I think it's 50 50. I still remember Pulis from his disasterous days in charge at Portsmouth to think of him as some kind of football manager guru.

Chadli, Njie, Son
Kane, Chadli, Son
Lamela, Townsend, Son

Yes, it would be wonderful to have Embolo or Berahino ready to step on from the bench....but not very realistic. I me for one I am content - although not happy - with Chadli as a back up CF, considering the financial state of Spurs. At Chelski, ManC, ManU, Arse players don't mind sitting on their benches because of the salary but at clubs like Spurs they won't be (as Spurs pay them far less).

Content to have Chadli as our backup striker? Seriously?

'Considering the financial state of Spurs' - We're not fucking Portsmouth. We're in the top 15 richest clubs in the world. It's unacceptable that we don't have a proper backup striker. We've got players ready to step up from the bench in every other position on the pitch, why is it unrealistic to have a striker off the bench?

Well frankly we should not have been um the position of scrambling around for a striker with two failed bids on the last day.
Still lessons have been learnt and so we wont see this kind of amateur behaviour again.

A RWF, who can play as CF, who scored 11 goals and had 5 assist last season is NOT Portsmouth understudy "quality". It looks as if you, and a few other on SC, seem to believe that players are falling over themselves to come and sit on Spurs' bench to watch Kane game after game.
