If we had the opportunity, would you take Keane back at the expense of Bent?

What would be your preferred striking option?

never boil your cabbage twice - he did'nt stay because he wanted to leave - remember that

But we, erm, 'boiled' Klinsmann twice. And Sheringham.:-|

That said, Keane can stay where he is as far as I'm concerned. I knew he'd be shit for Liverpool.:)

Know what you mean, I loved him as a Spurs player but felt that it wasn't the right move for him or them. I said all along to the many Liverpool supporting friends and family I have that he wasn't what they were looking for.

No.Fuck him,he wanted to leave, let him lie in his own mess.
I said when he moved Liverpool would be too big for him.At Spurs,we love his kind of player,i.e flashes of genius are lapped up so much that we forgive him his 4 previous misses, moans, shit one on ones, etc etc.He was a Spurs player through and through and we'd have loved him forever, but he chose Liverpool,a club which rightly or wrongly expect to be winning the Prem every year, and whose fans wont be so forgiving.

He'll move next summer, but not back here.Probly end up at Villa or Man City.

I don't pretend to be in the know coz usually I'm not. I live in Liverpool so not much Spurs gossip filters through. However.........

Do not paint Keane out to being unloved and forced out, back in October 2007 he was telling Carragher, Gerrard, his agent (who he shares with Carragher) and relatives of one of the Liverpool players who I know that he would love to play for Liverpool and would leave Spurs in the blink of an eye for them. This was at the opening of Carragher's bar in Liverpool and the day that Keane had scored twice at Anfield, I bet Rafa's interest was ignited there and then.

He signed his new contract with us last season thinking there was no better offer and then there was....and he left.

I'd still take him back because he was a great player for us but he instigated his own departure from WHL, Ramos did not force him out.

There's a lot of conflicting info, and no-one outside the club(s) really knows what went on. Certainly, none of us knows enough to condemn him.

Thought it was a shame to hear RK booed when he came back to WHL. Alright, he left, it happens, but Robie gave us many good years & many goals. Any of you that say you wouldnt give up something good for your dream are lying. We miss Robie, true, but time to move on.

Yes would be very interesting to know what went on there.

Some ITK snippets on here indicated that perhaps Ramos had indicated he didn't really fancy him which is why Keano jumped at the chance to join his boyhood club (which no-one knew he supported before!).

Not saying it's true or whether I agree with it, just an interesting (possible) sub plot...

Poyet was on goals on sunday yesterday and was asked directly about Robbie Keane and Ramos' opinion of him.

He suggested that Ramos always rated Keane and KEane's departure came as quite a shock to them. (he also said they always knew Berbatov wanted to leave and from one day to the next they expected him to leave, he would also pick and choose the gams he felt to play in)

Ok you are free to have your doubts over the extent to which Poyet was being truthful, but that info does atleast come from the horses mouth so to speak.

I personally have no reason to doubt Poyet's integrity, and feel he is bigger then to twist matters as a reaction to being sacked or to make excuses for himself and Ramos. But who knows, I do put more clout behind his word then that of a few ITK's...who lets face it don't really seem to know a great deal.

I vote goat:beer:

Really, though - I wanted the Bent transfer, i want Bent at the Lane, I will want bent (as long as he keeps on scoring).

I am not furious at Robbie Keane, unlike some. I realise that, at his age, that was probably the last chance he would ever get to play for the team he supported as a boy, and possibly play in the Champs. League. I also think 20 million for a player his age wasn't a bad deal...so, unless we would be paying, like, 2 million, or summit, I would see little point in buying him.

Yes, it is more propable that no one knows enough to condemn him, but not impossible. The rumours could well have legs to stand on. It was very unlikely (and there has been no reason for it) that Keane felt unloved or unappreciated as the focus if you remember was on whether or not Berbatov was going etc. Keane's move was a bolt out of the blue as no one expected that we would lose the two at the same time, you cannot deny that.

On the balance of probability I will more believe that he was more an opportunist than a sentimentalist to the Spurs cause.

I dont think Keane could come back. I dont think he would really have that hunger to prove himself, but I do think we need a player like him.

Bent has great off the ball movement and looks to get on the shoulder of the last defender. Pav seems to be a natural goal scorer, we need someone who is technically proficient with a godd eye for goal. I think modric has the technical ability but is not really a second striker, more an attacking mid.
