The one thing to remember is dont believe anything Harry says. On January window he said, No money, sell before I buy, no one coming in maybe a few loan players, wont raid Portsmouth etc We ended up with JD, RK, WP, CC and Chimbo. Total £40m?

It would make sense for us to have a quiet summer, but in reality Harry's probably going to be fairly busy no matter what he says now. I'm fine as long as he doesn't sell any of our younger prospects unless Gio demands to leave (since we're not going to get much for them right now anyways, and they'll keep developing) and he doesn't do anything too ridiculous / pay 14 mill for Downing or K Jones.

Out of the players that could actually generate funds, I think it's very likely that Bent or Pav or both will leave, Bentley and Zokora will probably leave, JOH and Huddlestone might if they want out, and Hutton might unless he turns in some very good performances for the rest of this season. That should be enough for a few good first-team possibilities and cover for LB, maybe an unknown bargain or two.

Unless we're tremendously lucky it won't be enough to get us a top 4 challenge, but hopefully we will gel faster this time and somehow get ourselves a solid, consistent top 6 finish (eg like Everton - climb to 5th/6th quickly and stay there for the rest of the season with a cup final - imo better than Villa's 3rd place + subsequent collapse).

Sell:
Gilberto: Free but saves on wages
Rocha: As above
Boateng: £3mil
Zokora: £5mil
Bent: £7mil

Buy:
Crouch: £10mil
Downing £8mil

A simple summer selling only those who aren't needed or who want to leave due to lack of opportunity. Bring in a couple of decent players with Prem experience. Hopefully this way we can continue our good form without many distractions.

He'll probably use Ocean Finance or something like that.

like it HL :)

I think we need a player who can cover LB and LM - warnock seems a good shout, I like Mendy from Hull too, but I'm sure HR knows a lot more options than I do

then we need a striker who's good in the air - this is good for many reasons but help with attacking and defending set pieces is especially important

haven't got a clue who tho

Wouldnt mind seeing emana from betis. Very good player and has had a great season. Suprised spursking hasnt mentioned him.

And someone like that Janko from red bull or the striker from hoffenhiem. Wouldnt cost too much and is also a beanpole that isnt crouch

Spurs will fund Harry's summer spending as opposed to himself, i'd be willing to place my money on....

Zokora will go as he isn't happy that Palacios is keeping him out, Chances are that Rocha, Gilberto, Boateng will go...

Bent, Huddlestone, Hutton and O'Hara may also look to move on...

Only players I see Harry bringing in are Downing and Muntari tbh...

And wouldn't we all? Luckily, we don't have a 'world-class' manager in charge this time round. Let's just make sure they're the right £15m players.

Selling our most effective league goalscorer by a country mile would, of course, be a touch of true genius.

Well we did it this season, except it was our top 2 goalscorers :wink:.

Personally, I wouldn't be too fussed if we sold Bent. He is a decent striker and his recent goal-scoring exploits have shown that.

However, if we are to progress as a football team then I think we need to part ways as I think that the type of football required for Bent to fit in to the team can hold us back at times.

I'd like to see us move from fully away from long-ball or lumping it over the back (for Bent to chase) towards possession football, and that means having a very technical target striker.

Hell, I'd settle for our spending the entire budget on that one position, provided no-one else goes!

I think Bent will be the only significant sale this coming window.

Personally I'd like to see Gilberto, Rocha, Boateng and Chimbonda released too.

I think you might have to add Zokora to that list given recent interviews.

I believe we could get a lot for this set of players:

Bent ≈ £10-11m - I would say his return to form should have added on a couple of million for us;

Zokora ≈ £4-5m - proven in the earlier part of the season that he can hack it in PL;

Gilberto ≈ free - £0.5m;
Rocha ≈ £0.5-1m;
Boateng ≈ £0.5-1.5m;
Chimbonda ≈ £2m

Which gives a grand total of £17-21m.

I don't think Levy has actually said anywhere that we need to sell to buy. Having said that though I believe the only players that might be sold are - Dos Santos, Rocha, Gilberto and possibly Chimbonda. I think Bentley will stay and fight for his place the same for Bent, Zokora and Huddlestone.

I dont think Harry will be restricted too much on what he can spend. He may have to sell two or three players that are not up to standard, but Im sure Mr Levy will get the cheque book out if Harry wants a certain player.
The one thing Levy craves is success. I think he has realised he has employed the right manager to be able bring success, but more importantly stability.

One thing we desperately need is a top class hold up striker. In a fantasy world, I'd love to see Luca Toni. He fits the bill to be a top class premiership striker, in reality, maybe go back for Kanoute.

Funny you should mention Brunt. I watched him quite a bit for Wednesday when I lived in Sheffield and throught he looked a good player. Been very impressed with him this season.

A good alternative to Downing?

Probably ship out Zokora, Rocha, Gilberto, Chimbonda possibly. Maybe see the back of Hudd, perhaps Bentley and maybe O'Hara, but I'd prefer he kept the latter two. Levy will put some money towards transfers, but I doubt it will be as much as previous windows. We don't need too many players, Muntari is one I would like to see. Hopefully HR will see sense and not pay 15m for Downing, or any money at all for that matter. Don't buy Johnson either, we have Hutton and Corluka for that position. Bale may go out on loan, but I'm sure he'll be kept for Cup ties and Europa, if we get there. Same goes for Tarrabt, Gio. I'm sure Bostock and all those lads who played against Shaktar will get a go in the CC next season as well. Hopefully they can have a good run.

I'd like to see 'Arry give some of the youngters more time next season. There's no reason that Taarabt cant play backup to Modric, and Gio backup to Keano. I think Bent will go so we'll need a taller striker to push Pav. A centre midfielder would be nice as well, especially if Zokora's on the move. As DA has said though, I'd much rather we got a £15m rated midfielder and a £15m rated ST than an assortment of promising youngsters with an assortment of weaknesses.

Thinking about the relagated teams, I'd take Nolan to play alongside Palacios. I think he's got more about him than JJ.

Also, alot of peeps are suggesting that we sell Boateng. To me he seems like just the type of player 'Arry likes to work with and can often get the best out of. Just a thought.

I'm not convinced that we need to sell before we can buy. We often start a transfer window with a line about not expecting any activity and not having much to spend but I think this is more about managing expectations and not advertising the fact we do have money to spend. If we do get rid of players, they should be the ones who haven't really offered anything this year.

The first wave would have to be Rocha, KPB, Chimbonda, Alnwick and Gilberto. Players who are unlikely to improve and probably wont offer us anything in the future. We probably wont make a huge amount of money by getting rid of these guys but it might be good to get their wages of the budget.

The second wave should be the the youngsters that Harrydoesn't rate. This could be anyone from Gunter, Taraabt, GDS or even Bale. None of them have really featured in the first team and it just depends whether Harry thinks they can become good enough to get into the 11. The could be some money made here.

The third wave of outgoings would be players on the fringes of the squad, Huddlestone, O'Hara, Bentley, Zokora, Dawson. I'd be reluctant to lose most of these guys, certainly until we've shown we can get through a season without really needing them. The have all generally made a decent contribution to the first team this season and we've seen what happened when we sold the 'replacable' Malbranque, Lee, Chimbonda, Tainio.

The fourth wave would be first team players that 'could be improved on'. The main two playesr mentioned have been Jenas and Bent. I think it would be crazy to sell anyone who has made as big a contribution to the team as eith Jenas or Bent. If we were selling them for the money to improve the squad, I think we'd be hard pressed to spend that money on significantly better players. Getting rid of them would be counter productive.

Taarabt and GDS are nothing but potential at the moment. I'm all for giving them a chance but to say that they are back-up to such key players as Modric and Keane when they have currently done nothing in a Spurs shirt sounds crazy.
