I'm sorry, but flying business class to Australia and back is hardly exhausting. He'll be playing one game, training as normal and probably spending the rest of the trip on the beach.
Maybe if you want him to be rested, you should not think about letting him play for England under-21's.

As I see it THFC pays his wages, so they have first call on his time. Picking Kane for meaningless friendly internationals should be the least of anyone's priorities.
On a side issue, I do think that England should field the strongest possible squad (including Kane) for the U21 Tournament in the summer. At least it may give the youngsters a realistic chance to experience of winning something, something which is clearly beyond the reach of the current full-international squad.

Kane should play the U21 tournament. Vital part of development if you want to really cut it at International level.

This is effectively the only marketing ploy of our preseason. To not bring one of our biggest stars is probably out of the question.

Now that he's in the mix for the national team, he can probably kiss the U21 championships goodbye, seeing as he will be a shoo-in for the European championships next year if he keeps performing close to his current standard.

Our medical team wont let him play football for two years straight.

Meanwhile, calling Kane up for these 2 games has deprived him of playing in the U21s' final 2 pre-tournament friendlies.

What do you want, Roy? can't play with the team he is/was set to play for in the summer and you don't want him playing a friendly for his club, but you'll bring him in to be a sub vs Lithuania and Italy during the week.

He should definitely go to Australia, an end of season trip will be good for team bonding & morale. He should also play in the U-21 tournament & so should any player who qualifies for U-21's whether or not they played the qualifiers. What is ridiculous is picking Kane for the senior squad.. what's going to happen is he'll start a meaningless friendly against Italy where both sets of players will play at 50%. They should of waited until next season to call Kane to the senior squad

Understand Hodgson thinking of himself and wanting Kane to be available for both squads but his paymasters are his club and should have the final say.

What if he get's injured playing in a meaningless friendly versus Italy. That could be the end of our season.

It's not as if 42 hours resting in an airplane is going to be hard work or tiring. Maybe the jet lag will affect him that's all.

I am with Roy on this. I would much sooner see Harry tearing it up in the European U21 Championship than going through the motions against some Aussie pub side. Pretty sure that is what Harry would sooner be doing too. If we wanted to raise our profile amongst the ockers maybe we shouldn't have been so quick to discard their new poster boy Luongo.

That's for us to decide Woy! I'm sure we'll evaluate at the end of the season and decide on who we believe is ok to make the trip. If we think Harry needs a rest then we'll rest him. I get the feeling Harry will have a big say as well and knowing him he'll want to go out there and come back and play in the Euro U21s, then play the next season with us and then play the Euro Finals next summer. He plays when he wants, Harry Kane, he plays when he wants!

considering the club pay his wages they can ask him to what they want, so Roy, our actions have feck all to do with you, how about you don't make him play two meaningless friendlies?

Sorry Eddie, just don't agree

Spurs have only one match as a 'marketing' game, one wek after end of the season, so Kane should play in that - it helps generate the money Spurs need to compete.

The matches which Kane should NOT be playing in are meaningful freindlies - so Hodgson should not be playing Kane in the England games, or if Hodgson wants to give him a meanigless cap to ensure Kane is tied to England, then play him for 10 minutes.

Better for his development to play in the England u21 tournament, so not averse to him playing those games.

But whatever - Hodgson should NOT be picking him for both England and England u21's. That just farcical and hypocratic to then say Kane should not be playing in a club game, Hodgson should make a choice pick him for England full side or the England u21's, not both.
