Last Bundesliga-based player to win the Ballon D'or?

Unless I'm reading it wrong.

Mattias Sammer in 1996, and before that, Rumminigge in 80 and 81...

Now, Real... Barca... there he wins it.
I understand the point you want to make, but it is a bit simplistic. Even this year someone will win outside of La Liga, that being Haaland or Messi probably (PL & Ligue 1).

Apart from a World Cup year, the UCL carries the most weight in this vote now. Lewandowski would have won in 2020 if the award hadn't been canceled, for example.

Messi and CR7 are no longer in the running, Mbappe/Haaland are good, but not as good as the two above, who won even with other teams winning the UCL. Kane would have a great chance if he keeps scoring goals and wins the UCL.

This is some 4D chess going on here. Kane comes out and says he won't leave if its not sorted by Sunday. Levy accepting the deal before Sunday. Both are trying to protect their image. Levy putting it all in Kanes court by trying to call his bluff and seeing if he truly wants to move by accepting the deal. Now Kane has to decide if he wants to look like the Hero or the Villain to the fans.

This is a matter of who blinks first and to see if Kane truly wants this move or not. I personally think he rejects it with the baby on the way and Kate having the final say on this. This way he can look like the hero who rejected Bayern to stay at Spurs and the fans will love him even more.

Masterclass 👀
If Kane didn’t want to leave for Germany he’d already have said so.

Where do you draw the line though? Is it a week before the season starts? 2 weeks? It was up to Bayern to put up the cash which they appear to have now done. It's late, given the season starts this weekend but better now than August 31st.

It gives us opportunity to strengthen whilst the window is open and although I'm sad that he could be going, the club is always bigger than one player, manger or owner. We carry on.

If the plan was to sell him this summer it should have been done in time to get replacements in before the first game.

Agree If the magical number has been met by Bayern, then he has to accept. Levy knows the majority want him out.
If he had rejected all bids and let him run out his contract. We would all be the same next summer, "how can you let this quality of player leave for free"
This is probably the best option to get him to stay and sign extension if not we have money to re-invest

As much as I wanted Harry to spend his entire career with us I can't get angry with the club for selling a player who has made it clear that he wants to leave. We can't replace him with a better player so just got to hope that the combination of a new manager and several new player helps us get over the loss.

People overrate the PL scoring record. What happens if he gets that? A few nice twitter posts congratulating him? Also, someone can take it away from him in the future.

Winning trophies comes with medals, team celebrations, bus tour in front of the fans, permanent record in the history books, probably a win bonus of some sort.

Players are always going to pick the later.

Are you saying you’d rather Orban over Vlahovic?

Yes, I want Orban over Vlahovic.
Orban fee is said to be 25-30m. Vlahovic is 60-70m

Vlahovic has scored 4 goals since Oct 2022.

I would happily take Orban for 25m over Vlahovic for 60m and spend that additional 35m+ on Toney (could go till 50m).

Can anyone show me an example where a big transfer has been agreed but “awaiting the players decision” is Kane in two minds?

Gerrard to Chelsea? Rumour has it that was only called off when the Scouse Mafia paid him a visit. We could try and Levy to send the boys round, but knowing him it would be a couple of primary school kids.

Vlahovic is unfortunately suffering because Juve are awful atm. He is a great striker imo and would thrive in this set up.

Win the treble with Bayern and the euros with England and he’d probably win it. Not an entirely unreasonable scenario.

Tbf surely Lewa woulda won in 2020 if they hadn't cancelled it for covid given Bayern won the CL and he scored 48 goals that year. Didn't he win the other big award that year?

First Carragher, now Owen. I'm sure there will be more suddenly 'sensible' ex footballers or pundits posting and pfeferring Kane to stay just to get more distraught fans like us agree and like, milking the whole saga fully. Remember, for the last 5 years they are the fucking same ones stroking Kane to leave us ASAP to win something.
