I would not say that.

If we can't sign anyone else unless we sell Kane - then we need to sell Kane.

So, Levy, or any chairman, should have made that a priority - meet with Kane, find out. where he is willing to go - then meet with those teams, and set a reasonable price, and get the deal done - a month ago.

If we can sign other players - then we should have already done so. The fact that its Levy, and not a DOF, working on this has been a detriment to the club.

Well, I wouldn't say Levy is handling things especially well, at least from what we can tell.

But things are not nearly as simplistic as you make out. There are some deals we can impose our will upon and some where we can't.

There are so many variables here. Is Kane manipulating everyone; is Tapsoba even that keen; Do clubs believe that we will have the Kane money this window, especially German ones; etc. etc.

I'm just saying that at some point you have to show some optimism or reserve judgement. We'll never know what is happening. We'll never know what the best course of action woud be. But to be so negative towards the club is poisonous.

Mathys Tel? Frazier Campbell Mk. II
Jay-z takeover? Shit show, meme club
Lenglet loan? F**king typical

The news probably isn't true; the analysis of it is wrong; the outcomes may even have been good (or irrelevant for Lenglet). But it's a relentless onslaught of negativity that is making people hate the club so much that they are now starting to believe that Sol Campbell was right.

I guess maybe I did not make my point clearly - If Kane was a priority this summer - we should have treated it as such and had it dealt with before pre-season training.

Sell, or don't sell - but if it has such an impact on our business it should have been dealt with right away -so there would be clarity now.

Once you've made the final determination on Kane - then you know what you have to work with to fill out the rest of the squad. Not dealing with Kane - just creates more problems later.

Kane is the biggest asset this club has. The idea that Levy wouldn't be involved in a deal like this - even if we had a DOF -is a fantasy - due to the huge implications for club profile, marketing, merchandise etc. That stuff MATTERS I'm afraid given the size of the club - despite some (not you) arguing that the stadium and wider business doesn't matter and it should be like the "good old days", jumpers for goalposts in training, players down the pub after the game with the fans etc etc

I'm one of Levy's biggest critics and am ENIC as out as much as anyone but am not going to rabidly blame him for EVERYTHING like some do on here, even though I want him away from all footballing matters ASAP.
And if we had a DoF, Levy could happily play his games with Kane while the DoF got on with signings elsewhere...but we don't have a DoF and guess who's a fault for that?

And what if Kane stated that he doesn’t want to leave right now and wants to give Ange a season? Selling him now would basically equate to the club saying: we have zero faith in Ange’s ability. The Kane situation is not an easy fix.

Then you don't sell him. This isn't difficult.

The point was not that you have to sell or keep - the point is, the decision should have been made a month ago. Then the club have clarity on what needs to be done to bring in defenders or anyone else they need.

And how do you know the decision wasn’t made a month ago or months ago? And who says signing defenders depends on us selling Kane? Constantly amazed at how people get so wound up over gossip and speculation. It’s pointless.

Because we are still fucking around with it at the end of July.

If the decision was to sell - it should have been done.

If the decision was to keep - it should have been communicated.

What's the point in flying over for a meeting if you're not prepared to get close to what we want...

Don't get it...

Right, but everyone is getting their knickers in a twist from German press being fed stories by Bayern. Spurs have apparently been insistent in not talking about Kane. The stories about Lewis telling Levy to sell as well was not a story from Spurs, but came out from United journos.

They came over for a meeting before we went on tour.

I know it's a lot to expect common sense and rationality on this site, but we could, you know, *try* couldn't we?

OK fine but why does our business seem tied with Kane. We needed a defender yesterday, yet everything seems stuck.
