By the way the "One of our own" still works because he came through the academy. ??‍♂️

Haha. Yeah, just the behaviour of a normal Arsenal academy kid who actually supports Spurs.

I don't get why we should be upset if Kane has worked hard to banish the image of him being a boyhood arsenal fan? It's only the smart thing to do if you play for their biggest rivals

Well yes if you're on a group trip you get involved. At that age he was probably told to wear that. You've really taken it over the top.

In what Fucking reality is that a group trip where he’s being told what to wear? He’s out in the street with a mate.

And like I say, my view is based on far more first hand experience of him and his brother than that.

Leon Bailey too similar to Gil?

Not really. Leon Bailey is more like Son than Gil. He would be serious threat playing on the right of a 433. Something like

Son - Ings - Bailey

Would be an insanely quick attacking trio.

It's a fair point, because wasn't that the year Arsenal won the title at White hart lane? Strange for a spurs fan to be out celebrating that in a full arsenal kit. But I guess as he was part of their academy at the time he supported Arsenal.

Harry Winks is a Spurs fan and a massive amount of fans treat him like shit. A lot of people need to get over themselves. Think a footballer owes you loyalty when you show none? So we support them when they’re good and not when they’re shit but a footballer should sacrifice his career when we as a football team are shit. Ain’t wishing him well but he’s more than earned a move and he was let down by the owners.

I've referenced winks as an example where it seems when a player is good enough, he must be loyal to us but when they're not so good... Let's get rid... The guy is shit etc etc etc... No loyalty.

Kane has been loyal enough and if we were close to the league or even in the CL then yeah I think he would have stayed... But we aren't.

Yeah but saying Harry Kane has made up a story that he was a Tottenham fan and now doesn't love the club is a hell of an over reaction don't you think?

Are you implying that I said this? My point has been that he’s just not as much of a fan as he and his team have made out. Not that he’s an Arsenal fan.

Honestly can’t believe we’re getting excited over whether a child wore an Arsenal shirt or not. Christ alive.

Haha. Yeah, just the behaviour of a normal Arsenal academy kid who actually supports Spurs.

It's irrelevant who he supported as a kid. Personally I don't care if he was a gooner.

He has certainly sounded annoyed at them for letting him go.

He joined us at 11 years old, realising his dreams and establishing himself as a top PL and international footballer. That for me makes him 'one of our own' regardless of his roots.

I accept being keen to defend that imagine because people over-react.

I highly doubt after all that he doesn't care about Spurs and is a closet gooner. He certainly has no worries about scoring against them!

He always said he was ambitious and would stay with us while we were competitive. We haven't been and he's willing to move on. Its as simple as that. Very frustrating but he's just doing what he thinks is best for his career, nothing more or less.

Inter are broke so we could certainly try and go balls deep and try and convince Lukaku to come to us as a replacement for less than a 100m with an extra 80m to spend on other positions. Come on paratici make it happen.

If he does go to City this summer, I'd like to think Levy/Paratici would include a clause prohibiting Harry from playing against us in the first game of the season. That's just a bit too much rubbing one's face in the feces. Levy will be public enemy number 1 for selling him. Last thing he wants (and the fans for that matter), is to play against him, at home, in our first game of the season, with a potentially full house. Wrong on so many levels.

Sorry if this has been posted but the thread’s growing too quickly to read at the moment. Sam Lee, the Athletic’s City correspondent, has been discussing the story and where it may have come from on Reddit:

It’s an interesting couple of comments, especially as it seems he’d heard nothing at all ahead of this coming out.

When you think about it, it's obvious he's not staying. Coming off one of his best seasons, he's one of the best players in world football. What other player of his stature is going to be playing in the European conference and battling to finish top 6?

Can't imagine Lewandowski or Benzema doing that and Kane is better than both of them.

Thankful I got to see him play for Tottenham in his prime, gave me some of the best days I've had as a fan. I certainly won't be forgetting that.
