This is why contingency plans should be in place

Our demise happened when we let Dembele go with nobody bedding in to replace him or anywhere near joining in the first place, same with Eriksen.

We tried to bed Sanchez and Foyth in for Toby and Jan and fair play for being proactive there but neither were up to scratch and once again we dragged our heels replacing them.

Our biggest issue has been we've sacrificed on pitch success for financial success. For this reason alone I see Harry being a cert to leave ove the coming weeks

OP was bang on the money

Too many on here are being so OTT with the love for Kane on a personal level, like he is some nice caring second cousin. I don't know why anyone one here would give a flying one if he won anything when he leaves. He wouldn't care if any of you got a nice promotion at work. You all spend your hard earned money on his wages, on the club. He has been paid incredibly handsomely to represent the club any of us would literally do almost anything to have played for, for just 5 minutes.

And on the point of us being terrible without him, Bale was a better player than Kane and we relied on him a lot more at the time. Guess what, we didn't get relegated when he left. It took a long time but we actually improved in the mid term. Let's give some of the other players more credit, we are not a one man team and players come and go. Its a massive shame we havent won anything while he has been here, but that's in the past now - onwards and upwards COYS

I will be happy to see him win something if he goes to Bayern, same way i was happy to see bale win at madrid and enjoyed his cup final goals (his goal in the spanish cup final is something i wouldnt have bothered looking up had it not been bale scoring it, for example).

Last season showed us how irrelevant a 30 goal striker can be to a teams success, with that other side down the road almost winning the title with no strikers scoring more than half that.

Have expected Kane to leave this summer since we ended the season, even more so given the last couple of weeks, but i'm still looking forward to the new season as much as any in recent memory.

I think he is now for sale but the more I think about it the more I can't see why Bayern.

When you break it down ( and I nicked this thinking from The Fighting Cock) what's the appeal? It's a league miles weaker that they will win whether he joins them or not so it's hardly going to answer those trophy trolls is it? I've never been to Germany and I'd Imagine Munich is lovely but it doesn't have the heat and beaches of a Spain. Win the Champions League? Maybe , certainly more chance than if he stays here but is there more chance than if he joined PSG who would likely pay more or if he waits for a City, United or Chelsea who will keep throwing money at it until they get there.

And then my oddest thought but I think it's relevant. Kane has been setting up stuff in America in terms of PR. Now it could be just that he wants to set up soccer schools or even be an NFL punter but that's crazy. Either way playing in Germany won't help him at all. On a week to week basis the rest of the world will be paying him no attention and whatever brand he wants will be much harder to grow.

And this post isn't a biased one that think he should stay. If I were him I'd be running out the door because these owners have made it quite clear they have no intention of challenging for anything except fourth place.

The only plus Munich have would be maintaining his Tottenham legacy but if that's what's important why rule out PSG so quickly?

I think Harry wants to go, I think he is for sale but I also think his brother and team are stringing Munich along in the hope of flushing out other clubs to bid

You might want to go back and read some of the posts on here, especially those referring to last summer
People who might want him sold do so more because i) he's indicated he wants to leave/has gone on striker previously, ii) he's staying for a year at best which is short term, and not conducive to building a team, and iii) the media circus that we saw with contes contract we're getting with kane x100. I dont think any of those reasons are without merit.

Son was hardly having a great time of it with kane here last year. Its all about system fits at the end of the day and Son's been around long enough to push on without harry if needed i'm sure.

Who is saying they don't want him here?

Pretty sure every fan wants him to stay long term. They just don't want to see him go in 12 months for nothing.
exactly this. I don't want spurs to sell him but i'd hate him to go for free next summer and who knows probably at man utd or man city. I really don't want to see him in another premier league kit, it took me ages to get use to Eriksen being at utd and it still seems a little weird.

Think it’s more that people are accepting he wants to go and don’t want it to hang over us any longer so we can get recruitments in.

This would require a degree of strategy and forward planning that I suspect is beyond one Charlie Kane.

If they do end up stumbling into a bidding war this summer I think it will be more through luck than design.

In an ideal world, I don't think anyone wants him sold, mate.

But it's the lesser of two evils getting £90-100m for him from a foreign club this summer. As opposed to him leaving on a free transfer to a domestic rival next year.

The nonstop speculation will also be very disruptive for Ange. He's already commented how he's not comfortable with it and the season hasn't even started yet.

Yeah I don't think anyone wants Kane to leave but we all know he is leaving now or in 12 months.

If we were a serious club we would have built around Kane and would challenge for the league each year but here we are

The Lewis stuff should put to bed the myth that Lewis told Levy to sell Kane, he has/had other issues to deal with.
Oh and the people wanting Kane to be sold are bloody mad, with the clubs record of getting the right players in and add the fact his bestie Son will be devestated.
Not saying he won't be sold, but it says a lot about our fans that pretty much every club in Europe would want him, but yeah let's sell him and buy a replacement.
Get out mate, no one WANTS to sell him, it just seems inevitable right now. If he is going to go get on with it.

Nobody wants to sell him and buy a replacement that's a daft accusation to make, we all want him to sign a contract and stay but he ain't going to do that, he's going to leave so it ain't us that's going to devestate his besty it's him.
To be honest I don't know why we're still arguing this point.

Son is a sociable person who has been at the club for about 8 years. I'm sure he has absolutely loads of close mates at Spurs, and will know that players coming and going is part of football. Doubt he'll be crying in his weetabix each morning if Kane leaves.

In fairness. Kane might not have actually said he wants to leave and thats why he is still captain.
Maybe he has said he is merely open to seeing what offers come in and will then make an informed decision.
I can relate to that, I did similar myself recently (admittedly not on Kanes scale) and my boss still treats me no differently. Ultimately I stayed because i never actually wanted to leave but the money being talked about made it somehting I atleast needed to consider.

To he honest, I'm coming round to that way of thinking, the "if you want to go, just fuck off already", purely because of the constant water torture of articles everyday.

I'd still be happy to keep him for next season though, try and persuade him to stay and if not, well it's not my money and we are far from being a skint club.

I have got the feeling that there are at least a couple of posters who do want him sold though, this is SC and there's always a couple on contrary buggers here! 😂

I think that it's fair to say that if nothing comes of the transfer talk this summer then he'll be content to stay, knowing that he'll have a pick of top clubs next summer. We're either going to lose him this summer or next summer but I think that we can forget him signing an extension.

I agree. People keep talking about what Harry Kane deserves. He is as responsible as anybody in the team for us not getting trophies. At crucial moments he has not stood up and changed the big matches. I am no fan of Gerrard but the way he changed the match when Liverpool came back to win the Champions League in Istanbul was inspirational. Kane has not done that for us or for England.
This is such a ridiculous argument. First, which big moments are you referring to? We all know he wasn’t fit for the champions league final, and he was Englands best player in the first half of the Euro final before our crushing negativity led to him being ignored for the second half. But more importantly if we had more players of his quality there would be a hell of a lot more opportunities to get trophies. No one changes all the big games, but better teams give you far more opportunities. So yes gerrard played great in a CL final and an FA Cup final, but he was garbage plenty of times too (pretty much every big game at a tournament for England to start with) and captained a team that came 6th or lower 4 years in a row as well. If all our players made the equivalent contribution of Harry to our quest to win trophies we would have won them every year
