Ronaldo (age 33) £88m
Higuian (29) £75m
Aubameyang (29) £56m
Zidane (29) £46.6m
Rolando was 33, not 29, and by that point in his career was an exceptional finisher and goalscorer but was no longer doing much more than that. Madrid also needed to shift him as they were desperate for the money and to get rid of his wages.

Higuain and Auba aren’t and weren’t a patch on Kane.

Zidane’s transfer was 20 years ago, and actually that one make my point... at 29 he became the most expensive transfer of all time.

If Kane is goin this summer, and I don't know that he has to go, it will be like Bale - where it lurks in the background all summer, while Levy tries to spend the money while convincing teams that he is keeping Kane.

Don’t forget Hazard at £143m or Coutinho which was £100m rising to around £140m. Kane is now better than they are or where and plays as a CF. The idea of Levy selling for less than he is worth to us just ain’t happening. This is Levy we are talking about.

Fucking hell. Fully drank the Mourinho coolade. It's all down to leadership and not lack of tactics. Should've just played Joe Hart in midfield.

Bit of toxic masculinity to boot.

Demanding maximum effort from professional sportsmen isn't toxic masculinity FFS. That should be standard practice. Sadly with this bunch, it's rare.,

Putting Zidane on there is egregious. Kids born when he retired are like 15 now. Talk about desperate to prove a point.

Love Kane and so thankful for what he has done. Absolute club legend but all these comments, especially the Mourinho ones are starting to annoy me now. I for one don’t remember a single final
Where Kane actually stood up and had a decent game
True, but I don’t remember a single final in which any of the other 10 players (or the subs) stood out either or where the team as a whole has had a better than 6/10 performance. They all have stage fright.

"Kane wants to leave in order to win the biggest trophies, which he has been unable to do at Spurs, although he has gone close with title challenges in 2016 and 2017 and defeat in the 2019 Champions League final to Liverpool. The club made no signings in the summer of 2018 or January 2019 and Kane expressed his frustration at their failure to build upon strong foundations.

“It was a big opportunity for us,” Kane said. “We were in a real good place with the team. For one reason or another we didn’t quite do what we needed to do and where we’re at now, I feel like we’re at a rebuild stage again. It’s disappointing.

“I’m not going to say it [the opportunity] is not there any more. One or two good players can take the team over the line with Liverpool, City and teams like that. But, for sure, I feel like it was an opportunity missed for the club to do something special.”

Ugh. I get what he’s saying but there WAS the opportunity to win the CL and the team, including him, crumbled. Take some ownership at least.

Hazard was not £143

"Real Madrid are paying an initial 100m euros (£89m) for the attacking midfielder, though bonus payments could see Chelsea receive at least another £60m from the sale of the player."

Given the 4 goals he has scored across 30 appearances - I don't think RM are paying much in the way of add-ons...

Coutinho was 26

It's not about one-off games. If it was only about that, we'd still be competing and he wouldn't be looking to leave.

It's about the conditions to be in a position to challenge consistently. We had it and fucked it away.

I agree with whoever it was that said Spurs should follow the Dortmund example.

Name the price (gotta be £200M) set a deadline. That way the ball is in the buyers court and if they don't go for it then Kane can have no complaints.

He's, in my opinion, one of the top 5 strikers in the world, at his absolute peak. And he has cost spurs nothing but his wages. He not gonna be sold at a discount for "good will".

When you read the whole interview it just sounds like he's happy to stay, all very odd.

Like ive said I dont think he wants to move - he wants to win. The issue here is we dont win... we have clearly regressed and Kane knows it. So Kane i feel and only what im infering from what he is saying, is that he wants to know where we are at and what Levy wants for this club. Its like anything - you dont go to a company to work in a job dragging everyone to a level only for the company not to prosper and succeed... we all have ambitions - it really isnt a bad thing.

It is funny because we tend to slate players who leave for the cash but we also want to hold onto someone who wants to win shit. Now I would hold onto him for a year but i also dont slate players who want to leave for more money.

I think the real issue isnt Kane in all this - it really is Levy and his ambitions for this club... and whether they align to Kane and us fans.

Its going to be interesting - because to keep Kane, Levy has to show "ambition". So, he can make a plausible argument to teams that he is a buyer, not a seller this summer.

There is also the chance that Levy hedges his bets, and spends money this summer, that he will either recoup by selling Kane next summer, or by making CL.

Before we even talk about players being bought a manager might me the way to go. I see very few circumstances in which we get CL football in the short term. (y)
