I wonder if the CL final will have a weighting on this. If City miss out again on the prize they want most of all, might that push them to spend the obscene amount of cash Levy will demand?

I think so yes. If they fall short then I could see them pushing even harder for him. It might need that much conviction to pay what Levy wants.

Wonder if it was Berbatov?
Doubt it, Kane would only have been 15 when he left, certainly wouldn't have been around first-team training. So Bale, Eriksen or Walker...

(I'd say probably not Bale or we wouldn't have bought him back. Eriksen pulling that kind of stunt would've been picked up on Amazon, unless it was part of an earlier attempt - but there was no sign of the strained relations that would've caused. And Walker's general indiscretions with partners and point to an attitude that IMO makes him most likely. But only speculation...)

I love Kane and everything, but main focus is on who will be our new manager and if we will have a director of football. That’s more important.

Due to the pandemic chances are we'll get as much next summer for Kane with 2 years left, as we will this summer with 3 years left.
Levy will know this and hodl. There'll be riots otherwise.
Extremely unlikely.

First, Kane will be 29. Second, there is not an open market for a player of Kane's caliber - there are only a few teams in the world that can afford him - and those clubs are not as affected by the pandemic. City, United, Chelsea could all pay for Kane if they wanted him. Next year won't bring any new teams into the mix.

The Pandemic hurts the values of players like Sissoko or Winks - because there are many teams who could afford them in good times, but now, with fewer teams spending money, it will depress their value this summer. That is simply not the case for Kane.

He will go this summer for £100-120m, or he will go next summer for £70-80m.

Levy "held" with Eriksen - and it was to the detriment of the club. Lets hope Levy makes a better decision this time - holding is the right move, if its followed up with substantial investment and the club make it back to the top-4 next season. Otherwise, we struggle through another season, every week the manager will be answering questions about Kane, and we will lose substantial money by selling next season, with nothing to show for it. (Oh, and next season, the replacement players will cost more...)

Jenas on Radio 5 talking about Kane and whether he has it in him to force a move through by being disruptive.

Said that when he was at Spurs, one player forced a move by doing shit like picking up the ball in training, whenever it came near him, and throwing it away (lmfao). I wonder who that was.

Can't be Modric, as he talked about his situation separately and said he was unhappy but trained OK and knuckled down to earn his move to Real.

Candidates (between circa 05-13) would be:
- Carrick
- Berba
- Keane
- Bent
- Zokora
- Pav
- Modric
- VDV

or, it's a trick question, and it was Robbo

This is obnoxiously incorrect, and I say obnoxious because you know full well you’re saying something untrue to claw at the most negative scenario.

Kane at 29 with two years on his deal will still be worth 9 figures, the reason he will be worth that is because the only clubs good enough for him are clubs who can pay that much and even at 29 he will still be by far the best striker any of them could hope to sign, and the balance of leverage will be pretty 50/50 as if he doesn’t renew we’ll have to sell to stop his value diminishing but if nobody bids 9 figures then he’ll still be more valuable to us running down his contract than the money would be.

But you knew all of that and didn’t need me to type any of it for your benefit.

This is so childish and I love it ?

Fucking hell. Fully drank the Mourinho coolade. It's all down to leadership and not lack of tactics. Should've just played Joe Hart in midfield.

Bit of toxic masculinity to boot.

Should be left in London for the game on Sunday. Might help get the rest of the squad to "man up."

I disagree.

Transfer fees for 29yo:

Ronaldo (age 33) £88m
Higuian (29) £75m
Aubameyang (29) £56m
Zidane (29) £46.6m

Players' values are not determined simply by how good they are - but also how long they can expect to stay at the level. Most teams do not expect a 29 yo to remain at peak level for 4-5 years, and thus, they are not interested in paying top prices. Add in a persistent ankle issue for Kane, and he simply is not worth (in the real world) the price that many people want.

Levy can certainly hold out for £150m, and say that's his valuation - but ultimately that only hurts the club. And if Kane feels like he is being hard done by Levy - that will translate to the dressing room, no matter how professional Kane is - if he is not happy, that is bad for the club.

Levy has two choices here - make Kane happy, or sell for the best price he can get. If Levy can't, or won't, invest in the club this summer to put them in the mix for top-4, it will be negligence to hold onto Kane.

I'm sure we are all in agreement that if kane wants out he wants to go to man City. Therfore he is also aware that haaland is up for grabs. If City get haaland then kane will never go to City

I think the situation with haaland has ramped this up

Tell City they have one week from the end of the season to buy Kane for 150m. Don’t drag it out all bloody summer just a take it or leave it offer so we can get on with our squad.

If Kane is goin this summer, and I don't know that he has to go, it will be like Bale - where it lurks in the background all summer, while Levy tries to spend the money while convincing teams that he is keeping Kane.

More like they have 1 week to agree a deal in principle and keep it under wraps until the club spends the 150m

If Levy sells Kane for £100m this summer or £70m the next he will have been seen to have gone insane and lost his mind.

Love Kane and so thankful for what he has done. Absolute club legend but all these comments, especially the Mourinho ones are starting to annoy me now. I for one don’t remember a single final
Where Kane actually stood up and had a decent game
