Why do we have to see the definitive angle? Shouldn't we be able to trust the decision makers? Or is that just how much we don't trust those in charge?

It's a world cup in Qatar.
In December.
With no beer in the stadiums.
There's no beer in the stadiums Easley!

Now ask yourself if you trust them.

Germans paying for their opening game photo protest? Hmm, not sure about that, but I am glad Rudiger’s piss taking has been karma for him and them.

If it went in off the head of the Japanese player on the ground then would it be offside because his feet are in front of the ball?

There is probably not even a rule for that.
A player off the field is determined to be on the goal line for the purposes of offside which is level with the ball in this case.

Does the chip in the ball give them any info? Hence why no photo.
That's what I was thinking and mentioned earlier. If they've got goal line tech that can tell if a ball crosses the goal line by a millimetre, surely that will also work in this case?
They've since shown an overhead shot which seems to show that the ball was in but Souness seems to have chosen his beef for tonight and so everyone is still going on about it.

Didn't Adidas come out and say Ronald didn't get a touch on the ball for 'his goal'
If they can tell that, I'm sure they know where the ball is on the pitch

GLT only looks at the area between/near the goal posts.

And the chip in the ball is only an accelerometer to track when it is kicked. It gives no location information.

Maybe I'm biased, but it was the whole "projection" of the ball which needed to go out, and not just the bottom of the ball not touching the line. Though I think var made a good decision.
At the time I thought it was out, but that was only based on the angles given. Having seen others since I think it was the right decision.

I meant the officials not FIFA. I don't trust them one bit. But technology akin to goal line technology and this semi automated offside stuff I do.

All the balls at the World Cup have been fitted with special sensors that can track and record almost any facet of play.

We’re talking real-time spatial positioning data that communicates directly with a series of network antennas installed around the stadiums.

if you ask me that should be classed as out idc, thats bollocks the ball is literally out, even if its in by 1mm

So you have a problem with the rule stating 100% of the ball needs to cross the ball in order for it to count as being out/goal?

To be fair it is so close where the inconsistencies of how the paint was applied to the grass could legitimately impact if you think this is in or out.

It blows my mind that three of the group winners this WC have been beaten by Costa Rica, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.

Admittedly France rested a lot of players but I honestly think this WC is more open than any I've seen.

its literally out though, you do know from higher angles the ball gets wider right? The ball would have been out, and with the height of that camera shot the width of the ball will be making it look like its in.

It's so tight you can't trust any frame taken at an angle. If you can't see a direct side on view of it where the camera directly follows the line you can't make a judgement.
