Camera angles are everything. It can look out on one angle and in on others. Plus the rule has always been the WHOLE ball has to be behind the line. It may have been the smallest of margins, but it was in. Japan deserved it at the end of the day any way.

It was a very interesting tactical dilemma. It was in spain's interest that Germany were knocked, as they (Germany) simply know how to win competitions and could have grown stronger.
Germany's only way to counter this was to threaten to lose themselves, and so take spain with them out the wc.

And for 3 mins, germany did make this threat very real. but maybe they lost their nerve.
I think germany should have come in at half time losing. Spain would have got the message and brought on their better players to get their game won.
