http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/dos-santos-ramos-stopped-me-joining-city-or-chelseaIgnore the headline

"I had offers from Manchester [City] and Chelsea. But when Ramos called and explained I'd be a regular at Tottenham, I liked the idea of playing English football.

"He was replaced by Redknapp. It was very frustrating for me because, like every footballer, I just wanted to play. I'd prepare for a game every three days… then not play. I really wanted to do well, and the fans were supportive.

"I remember them singing 'When the Spurs go marching in'. Great fans - I had time to watch them because I didn't play!

"I liked London, too, and my home in Chigwell. Not the weather, though. It got dark at 4pm and it was always cold, cloudy and raining."

Any regrets about letting him go? How does he compare to our current wingers? I'm not sure we'd be worse off if we'd persisted with him but then he might have been more interested in clubbing than football at the time. Maybe he went out on the piss so much primarily because he wasn't getting played? I don't know or care about the details but he's looked alright on the few occasions I've seen him since he left.

Maybe a move to London from another country was too soon for him in terms of maturity? I don't know, we'll never know why it didn't work for him or why he didn't play as often as he would have liked.
He did chase my cousin around a bit too much though, she ditched him in the end, wound her up that he couldn't speak the lingo.

I hope Lamela's Spurs career doesn't end up similar

If it does then it won't be through lack of professionalism or committment, the boy has his head well and truly screwed on correctly.

Every single time Lennon was out injured and we were playing Kranjcar/VDV on the wing I was dying for Harry to play this guy. Another wasted opportunity

Pissed up joker who once went missing when he was required for a drugs test. They found him after 3 days.

In Mexico.

Another player we were told would 'rip it up' when he left and never did.

He had skills with a ball akin to my skills in the bedroom. It didn't make him a great footballer and it doesn't make me a pornstar.

Three pre-seasons in a row, he tore it up - put Orient to the sword at the last one i remember, absolutely bossed it and looked superb. It is rather odd how he is so amazing for his country and really looked like a gangster in front of goal in games that didn't matter.

Perhaps, if he had been given that opportunity when Harry came along he might've become more professional, perhaps it was the waiting that gave him time to fill and he started exploring London a bit more, we'll never know.

Good luck to him though, he's clearly got tekkers.

Don't forget, Harry wanted to sell Bale to Birmingham. Not surprised GDS got pissed off and went somewhere to get regular football. Hats off to him. Has a great record for Mexico.
