No thread on Gilberto yet?!

I think he played pretty well. Ok, he made a bad mistake, but as Gus has said, mistakes happens to all the best players, and unfortunately for Gilberto it cost us a goal.

Bar that error though, I think he looked good. Was never really tested defensively, but on the ball he looked very comfortable and assured, and was linking up and passing the ball well.

As long as we give him the Kaboul treatment and make sure he just gets rid of it in dangerous positions, I think he's gonna be good for us.

were you watching the same match as me !!
he looked completely out of touch and speed....TBH it was to be expected from a player who hasnt played a competitive game for over 3 months..

Obviously Gilberto needs more game to adjust. I have to say though he looks more of a midfielder than defender (could be wrong)

Hope Beniot Assou-Ekotto recovers well for next season he could really cement a place along with Bale.

I actually think he had a bit of a shocker. He didn't exactly inspire confidence, gave the ball away carelessly a fair few times, and also cocked up Atouba style for their goal. Being subbed at half time suggests that Ramos felt the same.

Not impressed to be honest. O'Hara was much more solid and he's a rookie midfielder!

Im sure Gilberto will improve as he adjusts to our team and league, but the likes of C. Ronaldo will eat him for breakfast if last night's performance is anything to go by.

He needs time t adjust and get match fit. He didnt look comfortable and was lucky to stay on the pitch after hauling that player down.

I thought he looked a bit laid back. He should a few signs of promise early on then he kind of went to sleep. For the goal I’m sure most of the time he wouldn’t have dwelled on the ball, and he looked a bit sluggish on the lead up to getting booked. He hasn’t played since December so that could be why. I can see why he was played last night but it didn’t happen. He was up against some good players in Afellay and Farfan.

Give him time I’m sure he will come good.

He made loads of mistakes. Loads. And should have been sent off. At least he can only get better.

He looked promising, but overall, it was a very very bad debut.

Although hardly surprising considering it was his first game for the club, and he has been out injured for 3 months.
He looked terribly off pace, completely lost at times as well.

He needs to bed in with league games, not important cup games at this end of the season.
Felt for the bloke, at one point it looked like he was going to cry!!

So overall, can't judge him on a absolute shocker of a half, and as hard as it is to say it, the goal was completely his fault...

I thought Chimbonda was lucky to stay on the pitch, already booked, he tackled some dude above the ankle studs up.. almost similiar to Eduardo's tackle...

I thought Gilberto would've been more comfortable at LW than LB. Maybe sub Malb for O'Hara but move OH to LB and move Gil further forward

Not a a good debut at all. I thought he got sucked out of position a lot, like some have said, looked more like a midfielder than a defender.
Hopefully it was just a blip & due to the fact that he'd not played for 3 months.

PSV got the weak pointed straight away, most attacks came from down their right flank, Zoko was getting pulled out of position to cover Gilberto, which didn't help matters with their 5 man midfield.
Surprised that we carried on with that formation, but with us reduced to long ball tactics, Keane was having to hang off Berbatov to get his flick ons, so it completely ruined the game as Keane wasn't able to do his job of picking up the 5th midfielder which he done so well against Chelsea.

I'm sure Ramos will get it sorted for the return leg, but as I said before, going to be very difficult to overcome a team who have to be one of the favourites to win the competition.

i thought he looked good going forward, just a little shitty at defending. not very surprising for a brazillian. felt bad for the guy, first game for 3 months, spurs debut and he has to mark PSV's best player.

if jenas is out for a while, push steed into the middle, play gilberto at LM and bring wipey back in at LB. (this will never happen.)

I thought he looked good for the first five minutes.

And then he looked bloody awful. Obviously, he might turn out to be great, and end up as a Spurs legend, but judging by last night, he was crap.

A bad game to introduce Gilberto. I have no doubt he's a much better player than that debut would suggest.
