Main risk he has with West Ham is Moyes. If he takes to him he could end up being their first choice striker and getting way more game time than he would at Spurs. But if Moyes has any question marks at all, he'll go for his tried and trusted good English lads that know the league and Orban won't get consistent minutes.

Also given Orban is a bit of a poacher rather than a hold-up player, is that gonna suit their low possession style? He'd be good playing on the break I suppose but can't see him bringing down long balls or winning headers.

If I were him I'd think carefully about that move.

Don't think Moyes will last the season tbh.

Then they will probably get a more expansive coach like Potter.

My question would be, how does he compare to Dane Scarlett, and what would Scarlett be capable of in Orban's current role? Orban does look like a talent though with all the raw ingredients. Has definite Aguero/Defoe vibes about him which can't be a bad thing.

Agreed but again begs the question do you want to be joining a club that's selling you a project that's on the brink of death?

If the Spammers are serious and lodge a bid quick, IMO he goes there because we will still likely be dicking around waiting for player sales until the end of the window and seeing who is then available at clubs who are willing to sell so late in the day

Unless we have another option in mind who feel is equally as high potential, I think we will feel driven to act. Since he’s U21 there isn’t the registration issue to worry about this season. A few in the media have said we are really keen, just the price that we aren’t comfortable with. But if other clubs are prepared to pay that, then that just is the price. Accept it or don’t, but if he does a Osimhen/David and jumps from the Belgian league and maintains his form despite the step up (factoring in his scoring ratio in Belgium is actually better than both of there’s) his price will rocket, and we will be left kicking ourselves. If he fails, how much less than the reported €30m would we sell him on for? Loan him to France, watch him score, watch his price rise again.

I don’t see this happening in all honesty. Just think we were interested when the price was reasonable but it is just getting higher and higher.

In saying that though it's never felt convincing that he even is a top target for us. Won't be surprised at all if he goes elsewhere.

A great point that i've been thinking about since seeing Dane against Shaktar in pre season, where he looked like a different physical specimen. I'd also seen Ange talk positively about him in a press conference, so i'd been thinking how he might be viewed behind the scenes, given that 12 months ago (pre loan spell) Scarlett was viewed a a massive talent (and nobody had heard of Gift Orban).

I'd love to know how well Dane is doing in training because he's 2 years younger than Orban and might have just a high a ceiling (with the added benefits of home grown status, no massive transfer fee, no 'settling in' period etc etc).

West Ham will know him well, they faced him in Conference last season.
Was easy to see his quality.

Seemed like there was a period about a month ago when we were really hot on him and the prices quoted weren't that high.

Since then the quoted prices have gone up like 10-20m and we seem to have cooled our interest.

My guess is we see him as an interesting punt and were interested at the lower price but don't think he's worth spending big money on so are waiting to see how things pan out over the window.

If he's still available in the last few days and Gent lower their asking price as a result I could see it happening, but seems like there's more competition for him now too.

Well they're close to completing Kudos too, so maybe they have a mole on this site. We should all start bigging up Tanguy.

I hope we Danjuma him from West Ham. Let them negotiate all the numbers so we can swoop in.

I suppose the problem is we rarely seem willing to do a deal like Vlahovic- the ready or nearly ready made star. So it’s difficult to get excited about links to players it feels like we are not really serious about. Whereas with a player like Orban we can at least dream about him developing in the way others like Modric, Bale and Son did.

If our interest in Vhaovic was serious to the point it was a genuine question of whether we should buy him or Orban then of course it becomes different. But at the moment it just feels like we may as well as being intrigued about any brilliant player we probably won’t buy.
Also Ange has form on finding hidden gems and moulding them into exactly what his system needs. Making them into stars in the process. So who knows here?

He did well against Shaktar. Was patient, getting himself in the right spot over and over until his true chance came and he took it brilliantly.

Yeah it will in 2 seasons when he’s gone 20 goals per campaign and now his value is close to £100m

Personally reckon it'll take him a couple of seasons to get to grips with the physicallity and pace of the premier league.

If he came to the prem now for another club, or indeed Spurs, i just don't see him setting the league alight and rising his value astronomically.

Good player, work in progress. That's before entering one of, if not, the hardest leagues in world football.

I can see West Ham getting him, he'd be their first choice striker which is much more appealing.

I reckon we will end up getting 1 of B.Johnson or Fati and possibly a CB. Not sure how I'd feel about that as an outcome...
