We shouldn't be debating what the market value is. We should be debating what his value is to us.

If he's the chosen one (high risk or not) then we shouldn't be quibbling over £10m no matter how unproven he is.

If I bought a new TV then you can bet your ass I'll happily spend £15 on an HDMI lead to be able to use it today rather than piss about for days because the market value is £7.

It's actually probably more similar to Golf clubs, If I say to my wife II want a new driver and there's a brilliant one on sale at American Golf. She'll say what about the 3 you already have. I'll say it's a great deal so I'll buy it and then try to shift a couple that are gathering dust in the garage.

We'll argue for a few weeks, and at which point I'll finally sell 2 but find out the sale is no longer on.

Orban is our 4th driver.

Thank you for listening to my ted talk.

Sorry to break it to you, but it's not the clubs, it's you.

Gift falls within the U-21 registration for this season, and I understand he's not exclusively reliant on sales. However, we're facing the challenge of players receiving wages despite limited first-team playtime and taking up registration places. Striking the right balance is critical.

we cannot keep bringing players in without sales.
So we want to sign him, relatively low wages, he does'nt affect the squad because of his U'21 status and yet we are prepared to lose him to Chelsea or AC Milan because we can't shift N'Dombele.

Maybe he's not the messiah or a total write-off but somewhere in the middle. Worth a punt if the price is right but no more than that.

Everyone always conveniently forgets that it's not just about us accepting lower fees than we anticipated, but the players likely having to agree to go to lesser clubs on smaller wages. Even if we agree to sell at cheaper prices, I.e. sanchez, they can refuse to go.

Don’t blame them either, a nice comfy number they have with us.

I think we'd also need to subsidise their wages - nobody is leaving a job on £50k a week to go to one at £10k a week voluntarily.

This of course then leaves less money to spend on shiny new things.

If this is true, just HOW can £30m be too expensive when we’re in early zero net spend? Even Bournemouth have 100m spend this season! But little old Tottenham have to balance the spreadsheets!

all Itk seems to have gone quiet. No news of outgoings, of things don’t pick up in the next week, it’ll be Groundhog Day AGAIN!

I want him to be signed, but business is business. Don't want to let greedy clubs take us for a ride.

Sanchez is a good point, I don't blame him to saying no to going to Russia ffs!

There is no "he is the chosen one" at this point. He is a promising prospect from the Belgian League. £30m is extremely expensive for a player with this small of a sample size in a relatively weak league.

Yes, there have been some players from that league who have turned out well, but that isn't always going to be the case. Have to spent smart, not dumb.

I would happily accept us spending less if it meant using transfer budget to get movement on getting rid of players. It would leave us in such a stronger position to recruit in Jan or next summer

Thank you for listening to my ted talk.

So we should be very depressed that the thread with the most action is the "4th driver" when we're still using our grandad's hickory shafted irons?

I dread to think what happens if in 1 weeks time we haven’t managed to get rid of more then Lloris, which I could very much see being the case.

The only option Ndombele has he doesn’t want to go to and we think their offer is to low anyway. Atleti’s offer for PEH is again too low, seemingly they are hoping to sell Felix for mega bux but that won’t happen. Last min loan to Barca or Saudi is most likely imo. Nobody is spending £70 odd mil on him. Nobody wants Dier and he doesn’t want to go supposedly. Nobody is taking Gil while he’s injured (we’d need him anyway if we don’t bring in a WF). Regi has interest in Spain but I’m sure their offers aren’t near what we are hoping as most mid level Spanish teams are mega broke. (It’s a shame we couldn’t do a partial trade with Celta for Veiga.) Sanchez is probably our third best defender at this point and he probably has interest but I don’t think we can sell him unless we have a deal lined up for a replacement to come straight in and again I’m sure we would want a good offer for him.

We probably have some Interest in our HG players, I saw Inter again linked with Tanganga this morning, but I’m sure Levy is over valuing them and even if they went it wouldn’t free up non HG spots anyway.

It seems we would need to shift, or not register, 6 non hg players to get 3 new ones in. The only player I see us potentially not registering is Gil as he’s injured until winter supposedly. Maybe Ndombele but with his wages I think it’s more likely we give him another last chance after the last last chance he just had. Levy will probably “suggest” this anyway because the money involved. Idk, I’m struggling to see us making the necessary sales to bring anyone else from abroad in and the hg options on the market are of limited capability or are way too pricey (ie Eze who we don’t really need this moment anyway)

we have just sold the world's best #9 and best #10...no way we are fine...
Until the end of the transfer window then we can see what we’ve brought in and see where we are. Or we can continue whinging for the next two weeks, wetting the bed and jerking our knees and generally being ignorant of how the club and its chairman works, like it or not. Ange is keeping his shit together, a good example to follow.

Subsidising wages has to be the way forward - did it with ndombele at Napoli. We’re rolling in cash/revenue and our wages : revenue figure is the lowest in the league. Stop f*cking around Daniel.

To be fair, no one within the club could have known that Kane would leave…
And of course the time spent “assessing the squad”

Quelle surprise after the tour and a month of training that Ange has decided that Ndombele is lazy, dier is slow and spence has a bad attitude.
