But surely having no release clause is better? Meaning in can't ever be activated? I'm sure there's a good reason for it, I just don't understand it.

It is put in place to show how highly the club value the player and sends a ' Keep Away' message to any would be buyers (hopefully).

Jese is a good player and I would love him at Spurs, but I doubt we can promise PSG and him the playing time that Stoke can.

Stoke do sign some interesting players, i know they don't aways come off but i can see the attraction of the sort of names they get being well received by their fans. Theyre essentially a mid table club but with the likes of Bojan, Shaquiri, Martins-indi and similar in recent years i do have some healthy respect for them on the sort of players they take a punt on.

They literally sign all the players I signed on Fifa 11 career mode. Mark Hughes desperate to revive some failed wonderkid careers.

They're a bit like Bolton when they had Okocha, Djorkaeff and Ivan Campo.

I think this is why i quite like them, they are exactly like a teenager playing Fifa. I think its also the fact that i can watch it from a distance as it isn't my team doing it and therefore it doesnt matter if they all flop!
