"This most unexpected of things, a statement signing from Daniel Levy, will give Jose Mourinho, Spurs and their fans hope of an exciting season ahead. That seemed far from certain after the insipid, opening-weekend defeat to Everton. But Bale is back and optimism is in the air"

I suspect Bale will be doing most of the boosting here.

Well, let’s be positive: we have a cracking squad and there are hints that Jose and Joao are working towards a new system. I always believe in the adage that good things take time. The problem in football nowadays that time has become an extremely rare commodity.

This has been mentioned since day one but we’re yet to see any sign of it.
It may be that he didn’t/doesn’t have the personnel and Bale/Reguilon (possibly more so the latter) will change that.

There was an article about it on here the other day.

We were seeing it post lockdown last season, the defensive shape was better and we were far better organised, the attacking play hasn't really improved though. I think a lot of that comes down to fitness, mentality and confidence which we are somewhat lacking in at the moment.

Bare in mind that we have an ongoing pandemic happening and the season was put on hold for a longer period. Transforming a team to play in a new tactic system takes time

I think that part of the issue in terms of people’s perception is that they see Jose as a short term manager to win us a trophy and not a project manager whereas I think that this seems more of a project. Jose has a lot of baggage so I don’t blame people thinking that but I feel like we are something a bit different than he has experienced before and he clearly has the support of and good communication with the chairman (translated by some as a man crush but I see it more that this is someone that DL has been after for years and years) so the signs are encouraging even if the champagne is still very much still at the early grape growing stage.

I've seen us stabilise defensively, progressively press higher, and starting to see a concept of play which I felt was lacking during the end of Poch' reign. So I see plenty of signs but it hasn't been perfect by any means. Injuries, the need to reshape the squad personnel wide as well as that pandemic thingy hasn't made it easier but as someone above says. These things take time.
