Interesting comments from Poch, amazed he didn’t just shoot it down. I would love bale to come back but I just can’t fathom how it would ever be a viable deal for us to do!
I'm really struggling to see why everyone is both largely convinced he could be going to Bayern and also largely convinced him coming to us isn't possible.

Financially there is likely to be very little between us and Bayern next year. We were €200m behind in the rich list, however we grew by €70m versus Bayern's €40m over the previous year. That year Bayern made the CL semi final, this year they were knocked out in the last 16. Whereas we made the final obviously this year. Don't forget that also excludes the new stadium revenue that were seeing.

Add to that Bayern's current wage structure being very similar to ours and add to that the players history with us versus non history with Bayern, the German league and the reports of him struggling to settle in a foreign country the first time around. I think we are as likely to sign Bale as Bayern. I think the only other European contenders for him could be Utd and PSG. But for me they are currently the less likely options.

I don't think this will happen.

That said, if it were possible, it's interesting that things have gone quiet on Ceballos and GLC, and we still have the right to match bids for Bale. If we were seriously considering this, I think it would be done very quietly indeed. And he does still have affection for us, and has limited options.

But I don't think it will happen.

I understand that GLC would be a better future bet, but I’d rather have Bale and win the premier league this year, not in 3/4 yrs time.

I believe the matching clause finished in the last couple of years

Are we any closer to securing stadium naming rights?. There might be some leverage with prospective sponsors to assist with funding Bale move. They may feel the investment is worth it in terms of driving brand awareness. Just a thought!

Whether this happens or not, you know Daniel will be picking up the phone at some point. No matter what people think they know about if it happens or not I'm not even sure Daniel knows for sure til it happens or doesn't.

If Poch was certain he didn't want Bale then he wouldn't be entertaining questions about Bale. So if Bale is available you know Daniel will be sniffing around a potential deal that would only be done if it's hugely in our favour!

I don't think we'll get him, but I have a funny feeling it will come out in a month or so that we were close to signing him and either we, Madrid or Gareth pulled the plug on it.

I think this move has to suit all 3 parties for it to happen, and I think that is going to be a step too far.

I’m not sure he’s any more likely to go to Bayern than he is to come here. I just don’t see the financials stacking for either us, them, Madrid or Bale.

Saying that, if they want Eriksen and GB wants us, there must be a deal that can be structured, I just can’t quite work out how!

Bale gave us all wonderful memories but that's exactly what they are, memories.

Bale was Tottenham past but we are going in a young, vibrant and fresh direction with hungry players aching for success and I don't see Bale a part of that nor do the financials stack up in anyway shape or form for our business model.

It's a no for me.

This Neymar swap deal does make a lot of sense for all parties.

PSG - Get shot of a troublesome player and get a huge name plus a wad of cash in return. Plus they have a top RW allowing Mbappe to go to the focal point.

Bale - Keep the high wages and the prestige of playing for a big name club that wins trophies. Would probably enjoy the weaker league.

Madrid - probably get a much better part ex value than they'd have got from any fee elsewhere. Zidane gets rid as he wishes.

Could see it happening.

Bale is a winner, he may be able to drag up the players in the biggest if occasions as he has shown

Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Kane, Hazard, Salah, KDB, Sterling that’s just to get going
Sorry but Neymar, Sterling, Salah and even KDB aren't up to Bale's standards. Kane I love but I'm not even sure about him, Hazard either. But then some of that is based on pesonality and team ethic, not just pure talent. It's also hard to judge different positions against each other.

For me, Bale is the complete package of ability and temprament.

As much as I doubt this will happen, am I correct in saying this hasn't been poo poo'd by JJ, herc or Val?

I missed Mbappe.

As I said above I love Bale but I think there is a lot of rose tinted spectacles in here. I think people are thinking of the. Bale who left Spurs and started at Real, I don’t think Bale now is the same player.

You might be right but it's hard to tell with the way Real have treated Bale over the past year. If he'd have been wanted and played, who knows how good he would have been.

KDB is. He is genuinely world class and probably the best player in the league. I love watching him play, an amazing player that consistently produces magic. A shame injuries have dogged his career because I think he would go down as one of the all time greats, as it is I’m just going to enjoying watching him play football whilst he still can
