Sorry but that is a bit unfair They had a very, very decent team ... Marcelo probably the best LB in the world over the last 4 or 5 years. Ramos and Varane are two of the best CBs anywhere. Kroos and Modric in CM ... awesome. Certainly not a one man team.

They’ve still got all those players yet with no Ronaldo they’re struggling to score goals and are pretty easy to beat. With more clubs able to afford and attract quality players the days of domination of clubs like Real are coming to an end.

The way this is shaping up, I think the likeliest outcome will be that he's sent out on loan with Madrid picking up the majority of his wages. If he's really on €600k/w then he's owed close to €95m over the three years remaining on his contract, and I really don't think there's a single club in Europe who would even come close to shelling out that kind of money for an aging, injury prone winger whose game has always been predicated on his pace and power. Even United, who would be the likeliest candidate by far for that sort of expenditure, will surely have been chastened by the Sanchez fiasco and wouldn't even come close.

If it does turn out to be the case that no club will be willing to pay him anywhere near the wages he's owed, Madrid wouldn't even be able to get shot of him on a free. In that scenario the only options they'd have are to let him rot in the reserves or to subsidize his wages heavily. Assuming they choose the latter I think we'd be in with a shout, and I'd happily take him back under those circumstances. He's going to play with a massive chip on his shoulder next season, and I'd love for it to be in a Spurs shirt.
Agreed, if anything i'd much prefer a loan to a permanent deal.

No proper disruption of wage structure and squad morale, if he's great then great if not then we can send him back without much damage.

He's 30 now anyway if i'm not mistaken so he's only gonna have another 2 or 3 years before his legs start going.

Hopefully he will be at the final sat with Levy!
Any sightings at the new stadium yet?

I definitely wouldn’t be against this deal but I just don’t see how Levy would agree to the financials. Paying huge wages to a player who will literally have no sell on value only makes business sense to Ed Woodward

Perhaps our business model is switching a tad? Sissoko was similar at 30m ish. We will still buy young players to improve and raise in value (sessegnon, grealish) but hopefully we are ready and looking to buy a couple of straight into the first 11 players like we desperately need. Hopefully those will be n'dombele, bale and wan bissaka.

A tad? That would be a complete U-turn. I don’t see it but hope i’m wrong off course.

He's 29, are we really writing players of 29 off as too old now? I know Bale has blistering pace but unlike many players with pace that is only part of him, he has so much more that he'd be a great player without the pace.

He'll be 30 by the time the PL season starts again.

And? There are players at the age that still do a job. We need the winners mentality as much as the talent on the pitch, too. Bale has that in spades and also knows us. I'd still take him. We need a set piece taker to beat the first man and walls..

But he's not now and if he was he'd be 31 by the time the season starts.

Eh?

I'm literally just stating a fact, not saying there's anything wrong with it. What I or even you think is irrelevant in all fairness, it may just be a way that Levy would look at it for all we know, in a negative sense I mean. I'd like to think not, but I don't have a say in the clubs transfers!

Only if Poch wants him and it doesn't break the bank. If potential wages means we can't improve weaker areas of the squad (RB, CM, Potentially CB and CAM) then forget it. I get that he's world class and single handedly carried us for a time, but if his signing is of detriment to the bigger picture then let somebody else pay his obscene wages.

This sounds a little bit ridiculous in my own mind but I'm not sure Poch would be keen. He's a great player no doubt but he isn't the hardest worker off the ball and that's really what our whole style of play is based around .

Bringing Bale back to Spurs is a no brainer. Aside from the fact that he’s a genuine worldly, it’s the statement that comes with signing him. It’s a message to the squad, the players who are thinking of maybe moving on, our fans, the media and other clubs that says we mean fucking business! 29/30 is nothing. Messi is 31, Ronaldo 34! Bale is in the same category and I for one would love to see him back.

Gareth is never coming back to the prem. He'll play golf for a couple of years, picking up his £600k a week, then maybe slope off to China or Qatar for some extra mad bunce before retiring at 35. He's done everything it's possible to do at club level, so it's nothing but easy street for him now.
