Seriously people are now making excuses for the fact he has to keep making 600k a week as it might impact his finances!

Kin hell...what sort of sick world do we live in now ?

I havn't misunderstood anything. I don't know anything for a fact, and nor do you I'm afraid.

But in my opinion it appears greedy, as earning obscene money is clearly the paramount factor in his decision making instead of playing at the top level that his ability and condition clearly still allow for.

It's funny how people are being so precious about this, it's pure greed imo.
You’re using the concept of opinion and then presenting it as a truth and a justification to dismiss the critical faculties of those who have contrary opinions to yours

China looks the likely destination but there is the possibility it is a short term option for Gareth. It gets him out of Madrid and I expect there will be a massive payout from them to make him leave.

What if he doesn't settle and he wants to come back to Europe after 6 months/a year. Will the Chinese club demand a massive fee? Will his wage demands become more manageable?

If the reports of wages of £1m/week tax-free are to be believed, then 26/52 weeks in China seems a pretty good deal to me and then he's got a lot more options on his return to Europe if he chooses to return.

He may want out of the limelight for a while. This Madrid saga may have heavily affected him mentally. I know many of you will focus on the money involved, however it would not surprise if an introvert like Gareth has had his mental health worsened by the events in Madrid. Celebrities and rich folk have these same afflictions as well. You don't know what goes on behind the scenes, none of us do. Calling him greedy, when let's face it 90% of us would do the same if the money was offered and you're being ridiculous if you say no. China doesn't have the media spotlight on it like Real Madrid, if he wants to go with his family and finish up there then so be it.

Nobody is making any sort of excuse. There's nothing that needs excusing.

I've seen a lot of people offer up one scenario or another as possibilities because we don't know the full facts.

I've also seen a lot of people posting about his being greedy, which is weird, because (guess what) we don't know the full facts.

It's all very SC :D

Actually what A&C was implying here as far as I can gather is, how much of it IS his (Bale's) choice.

If PSG, Bayern, Spurs, whomever, haven't bid what Real Madrid are willing to accept, but a Chinese club have, then what choice does Bale really have? Yes, he could reject it all and sit on the Real Madrid bench and cost them money, but then his footballing career is done.

Yes Real Madrid will like him off their books, but I wouldn't underestimate their ability to deal with the money aspect and Bale's reputation will suffer.

And moving to China is going to do what for his footballing career???

My guess is we are working on this but trying to keep it as quiet as possible. Hence no ITK to the masses, Herc sharing private and no dismissal of the link from JJ or even Poch yesterday.

We are obviously trying to be inventive with the wages shortfall using sponsorships etc. We have stadium sponsorship to secure which with a superstar like Bale would help and potentially vice versa.

The sensitivity is linked to not wanting to enlighten other clubs on how to make this viable.

China is obviously an option as well as they will just pay the money out right.

Well I guess if he really would like too he could play for us, close to friends & family and challenging for the Premier League title. While that he could earn around 200k/week. I would even understand a move to United or so for a bit more.

But it seems he prefers going to nowhere where no one aside asians is really interested in what he does.

It is not always that easy but it feels very disappointing.

It is only a matter of time before a big player joins the Chinese league for insane amounts of money. I just hope it isn't Bale and somehow he returns to us but I think there is too many obstacles in the way for it to happen.

If he doesn't join us, I'd rather see him take Madrid to the cleaners after the way they have treated him, disgusting behaviour from a disgusting club. I really hope they win nothing this season and Hazard flops like Courtois did.

If there was (or still is) any hope of a deal to be done, I have no doubt Levy would be the man to do this. The relationship with his agent has always been strong and Barnett was always praiseworthy of the way Levy handled the departure. Equally Bale has always spoken fondly of Spurs too and let's face it we are now a different proposition to the club he left. Having said all of this, the only way he would be coming to us is a VDV style deadline day special. Small chance but I still live in hope.

Every club knows Madrid want him out and in such circumstances it is the selling club who will have to take the financial hit here by reducing the price or subsiding the wage and this pressure only increases as the transfer window closure draws nearer. Zidane breaking rank and confirming this is odd, but we are dealing with the Madrid media spin operation here so combined with the China links I don't doubt this is a deliberate ploy to try and spark other clubs into action.

Barnett said yesterday- “Gareth is still one of the best players in the world, one of the top five players in terms of market value, and his future lies at a big club”

That doesn't suggest a move to China.

I don’t know about that - maybe Keano has been in his ear, telling him all the great things about Jiangsu Suning. They are his boyhood club, after all. ?

Barnett also said that
“If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing.”

which to me says he aint going to help madrid out by going to any old club, to get off the books,
I think he and Levy will do an adebayor

If I was in Bale's shoes I'd be desperate to play against Real Madrid as soon as possible.
