Weird choice really. He could move to another team in Europe on slightly less wages and still command unholy amounts in China in 3 years time, it’s not like he’s going to suddenly not be Gareth Bale in that time

You say that, but it’d only take a Charlie Adam-esque tackle to reduce him to being less than Gareth Bale.

Anyway.

Let’s see what happens shall we??

No one knows what GB is thinking, what his motivations are, what cuisine he fancies eating daily, how cultured his children will be, what language he might want to learn, why Real Madrid are seemingly pushing him out, how into golf he is, or indeed myriad other Gareth Bale-related facts due to most of the idle speculation, and consequent judging being baseless, groundless and without thought.

Patience. Not a strong SC virtue...

He ends up where he ends up. We’ll be surer of his intentions, demeanour and motivations in a couple of weeks time.

If it’s to us, awesome!
If it’s China, best of luck to him. There’s likely many reasons he would fancy that. Perhaps not all financially motivated. How the fuck do we know?!? ?

Who here knows exactly how any deal or proposed deal for Gareth Bale would work? What are the protocols involved. How does a club do such a deal, the first call is to Madrid? After that? What happens?

I'm asking because this looks like a fuckoff great big complicated deal to me and I don't have clue number one so I'm starting to feel a bit left behind here, there's a lot of people seem to know how this is going to roll, who'll decide what and the exact motivations behind those decisions.

I'd appreciate some clarity from the enlightened because I'm fucking baffled :D
I know fuck all but that’s my point exactly, everyone here knows fuck all yet a selection of holier than thous are condemning him for potentially making a decision which not one of them could possibly relate to.

When, if ever, is here going to be some heat on professional footballers taking the Chinese $$$ while half the Uighur population is locked up in Concentration camps?

I usually try and separate sports and politics but with the Chinese and Oil Slavers sport washing to the tune of some small countries GDP we should really be making some more noise. Horrible.

It’s not his time to move to China. 30 is not old in sports anymore. The conditioning, diets, yoga, supplements etc. Bale is a physical freak and could play for years more and still be better than just about everyone on he planet.

Injuries yes, he’s had too many but I don’t think he’s just going to drop off in level because of his age.

He can go to China when he is 36-37. He hasn’t won a Premier League, he hasn’t won a ballon d’or. I would be stunned if he went to Beijing.

I don’t think he’ll go to China. He’ll continue to earn what he is now with Madrid subsidising it as part of the deal with his new club. They have made it crystal clear that they want rid so the ball is in their court to make it happen.

Madrid have played their hand in the worst way possible and maybe it’s me being in dreamland but this looks like the perfect scenario for Barnett and Levy to come together to work out the deal of the century.

From our point of view, footballers should play for love of playing and the money should be a happy bonus, and the truth is clearly the opposite. However, same as when Beckham went to LA and other similar examples, he’s going to go and experience a new culture steeped in history and see things which the majority of us here, myself included, never get the chance to. Throw in the unbelievable benefit to his children of spending part of their youth learning and growing in a very different part of the world, the fact that he’s achieved everything he could possibly want to achieve professionally, and yes, an enormous amount of money, and it becomes an opportunity that is too good to turn down.

My sister in law, Yorkshire born and raised, has two children, one born in Bosnia and the other in Hungary, who have lived between them in those two countries, Thailand and Vienna, they are 10 and 5 respectively and have learnt and absorbed more than any children of the same age I’ve seen in this country. Meanwhile my sister in law and her husband are seeing the world, making friends everywhere and continuing to have adventures now in their forties. This is on the salary of international school teachers, not elite world famous athletes.

(..)
I´m I the only reacting to this? You´re very much talking about your sister in law, almost like you´re smitten - and then about her "husband". Had a fall out with your brother or something?

Not dissing your post, mate - I agree to most or all of what you´re saying.

Edit: my only excuse for this utterly short sighted and plainly stupid question must be that I was ... eh ... stupid. Obviously his wife’s sister. :banghead: Can I give myself a “doh”-rating?

What about his brand and marketability? Surely his profile will fade drastically in Europe and the US as he just washes away from public conciousness. Are they betting on him shooting through the roof in the asian market?
Population Europe: 743 million.
Population Asia: 4,587 million.

His brand and marketability would sky rocket in Asia if he went to China. His total commercial value would be immense and many, many times that if he stays in Europe. Just think how the owners of Adidas would wet themselves if Bale as their front figure and playing there.

He wouldn't be meeting the locals any more than Harry Kane might meet them when popping down the High Rd, getting his fags.
He'd be kept in a bubble of european players in a exclusive village, where everything would be done for him.
He and his family would be totally insulated from any local culture, pretty much as they are now. His cupboards would be stocked with Welsh marmite, his cable TV with full access to welsh coronation street.

I don't know what the golf is like over there but I suspect they have copied the greatest holes from around the world. It is the sort of thing they do.

Who says his sister in laws husband is his brother? What if his sister in law is his wife’s sister? That would mean his sister in laws husband is not his brother but just his sister in laws husband...

Good luck to him!

Would love him back however he does not owe us anything and did not act in a similar fashion to SC when leaving, if he is in China next season, I hope in years to come he will be able to retire and use his notes to wipe his ass than big roll!

Bale don't give a shit about our estimations. He's won enough, he seems fairly introverted, or at least family orientated so he won't really give a fuck about where's he's playing.
Good luck to him if he goes to China. Wasted Talent, maybe, but it's his fucking talent.

Jiangsu Suning seem to be a mid table team who are 23 points behind the leaders after 19 games. He must be able to do better than that.

He could join a championship club here and it would be doing better than that!

If he goes there he’ll be back in Europe within 18 months.

Seems the PSG bit in here has been overlooked. A complicated deal but one that would make sense. I’m sure Madrid would love Neymar.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...an-want-make-gareth-bale-highest-paid-player/

Whether or not Bale would be prepared to move to China remains to be seen and it could be that a big European club, such as Paris Saint-Germain, might be more appealing.
Representatives handling Neymar’s exit out of PSG have reportedly explored the possibility of a swap deal involving Bale that would take the Brazilian to Real.
