We should have pushed hard to keep him in summer.

His creativity and goals have been a massive miss, you could see when he was played he was a level above most on the pitch and he linked fantastically with Kane.

No thank you

we really need to move on, nostalgia is clouding everyone’s judgement.

To much money for someone who’s not a top player anymore and most definitely a luxury.

Why is this controversial? if his wages don't kill us, then he would be a great addition, even if he is a bit of a luxury. His goals per minute were the best in the EPL last year of any player and it wasn't even close (83 m per goal whereas Kane, who was in pretty good form with 23 goals was at 134). Even if he has lost two steps, his impact, whether it is off the bench or as a part time starter would help an offense that clearly has sputtered. The first of two real questions is whether Conte's system(s) has enough flexibility to allow a player who may not run all day long. The second is whether GB could run enough to not break down a system that Conte devises. At the very least, bringing him in as a sub would create havoc for opposing defenses who are already a little heavier in the legs in the last 30.

If he really wants to come back, he'll be realistically not expecting us to pay much over 100,000 pounds a week. And if he resorts to long distance running that he did as a youngster, he shouldn't be much of a problem in the team.

He was glorious at times with Kane last season.

If we hadn’t had a dinosaur in charge he probably would have been even better as well.

Agree his wages might be a bit much though considering his age, but you could see he still had it and was so dangerous both scoring and setting up our other attackers.

I know Ancelotti was maybe a factor but still a bit sad we didn’t seem to fight more for him.

He also oddly made Reggy better too, so many Reggy crosses to Bales head last season, they link so well.

Whitewebbs gold course right near training ground too so would but that up for him in exchange for chipping his wages! :playful:

It’s not nostalgic, it’s the fact we don’t have better than him at the club.
A player that’s constantly injured
A player that’s on an obscene amount of money
A player massively on a downward spiral

Yes he was once our hero, he’s not that player anymore

We can do so much better with our resources
A player that is the complete opposite to Contes high intensity pressing system

Would anyone want him if he hadn’t played for us before?

No!!

Last post in here (for now, mwahahahahaha) I’d also be interested to see how Bale would work in a 3-4-3.

There are concerns perhaps Conte’s game plan may be a bit too intense for him, but in a 3-4-3 he’d be a little more central than last season and wouldn’t have to cover full back position as much.

And I miss his man-bun on fifa…

Anyone know what's going on with him at Madrid this season? Wiki suggests he has only played 3 times or club but appears to still be playing for Wales.

If he can still perform at a reasonable level I'd be fine with giving him a 1 year deal.
He was out for two months with a bad hamstring injury. Played half a game for Wales and knackered his calf. Out for about 3 weeks with that injury.
They will be pleased to get shot of him. He has really pissed them about , How awful.
Having said that if we signed him it would have to be low basic plus extra for playing. Do we really want someone who is on his last legs and always injured.
He would only be using us to keep fit for the World Cup should Wales qualify. If Wales don’t qualify I could see him retiring. Would be 33 by then.

I agree. I think it's a good idea to look at what makes a good squad player.

Flat track bullies are excellent squad players.

Ageing, world class players who accept they can't play every game are also excellent squad players. Naturally, they should be very professional and help show the younger players how to train as well as offering good performances when they do play.

We likely would be coasting through the ECL and not have to rely on playing the likes of Kane and Son if we had a few players like Bale.

Can't argue with those stats he put out under the horrible non attacking Mourinho side, when Jose bothered to even play him

You mean the downward spiral that got us 11 league goals last season
Im sure I said IF Conte wants him?
We haven’t done better with our resources.
He isn’t going to get the wages he was on at Madrid from anyone.

Do I think he would be playing in big away games? No

do I think he’d be useful to have against any team from about 8th onwards definitely.

I know we’re all pissed off at what Mourinho did to the team, but don’t you think accusing him of matricide is pushing it a bit?
