i remember 1 or 2 of the players saying ramos likes a laugh and a joke.and the better his english is getting the the better hes getting along with the players...

Makes perfect sense to me. I work with guys from all over Europe, most of whom have English as a 2nd, 3rd or 4th language, and injecting humour into conversations only comes once the language is pretty good.

Far from being stand-offish, it's been reported by various players many times, from Berba to young Gunter, that Ramos goes and speaks to them all individually.

I'd be very surprised if they universally didn't get on with him or respect him, infact I don't believe it.

Remember the champagne pouring episode at Wembley from Robbie and co? You don't do that to your Manager if you don't have a good relationship with him, as it's a *friendly* gesture.

As for Berbatov being a "dick" and "very arrogant", well he spoke highly of Robbo in Maxim magazine during the off season back in Bulgaria last year, saying he had an "ironic sense of humour".

I'm quite concerned that so many of our players seem to drink till they get drunk. What's happened to drinking in moderation? Ofcourse no surprise it's always the English players who do it.

Hans Segers said of Robbo, when he got dropped by McClaren, that he found criticism extremely difficult to cope with. He found being scrutinized by the media and fans after his England performances really preyed on his mind, knocked his confidence, and affected his form for Spurs.

As for whether Berba leaves or not, and whether Ramos makes him see out his contract, he's already stated clearly that he would not wish to keep a player against his will. If Berba wants to leave and an accepted fee comes in for him, I'm sure Ramos will let him go.

As for Lennon, he is at a crossroads in his career, he can either hang about at Faces or look after himself, work hard and fulfill his talent and potential. Maybe being dropped by England might give him a wake-up call - we can only hope.

As for Daws - what has happened to him? He was Jol's player of the season last year, and 2nd in the SC Poll.
Why has he fallen apart form wise?

I didn't see the SSN report, but good to hear that Ramos is saying there won't be wholesale changes in the Summer. I still want most of our young English players to stay at Spurs to improve and mature, and wouldn't want the baby thrown out with the bathwater in an attempt to revamp.......well, apart from Bent.

My mate has just got back to me. He basically cleared up a couple of things I got slightly wrong, it's a little bit more positive than I remembered:

Firstly the downside - he doesn't hate Wenger as such, but when he was drunk he said that he turned down the chance to move to Arsenal because "Wenger's too skinny", then apparently sucked in his cheeks imitating him.

I was wrong about Ramos not being liked, I must have come to my own conclusion - they DO refer to him as 'the Spanish one' but it was me taking that as an offensive thing, Robbo didn't say whether this was meant as an insult

Also I came to the wrong conclusion about Berbatov not being liked - Robbo just said that he's a moody **** (his words not mine, so don't ban me!).

Clearing up a few things there.

This wasn't at the Cock & Dragon at Cockfosters by any chance, was it?

Was wonderng the same thing

At the end of the day footballers are entitled to their own opinions! I don't personally want to see Berba, Lennon or Dawson leave but I trust in what Ramos does. I love Robbo but he's got to step up his game - and we have to get a goalkeeping coach!!!!

I asked that because one my nephews has seen him in there a couple of times, somewhat the worse for wear—although I should stress that both occasions were in close season!

not many people do like their bosses, especially after a well documented fall-out... And Berbs prob is a bit of a muppet as a guy, talented people quite often are, but they still have friends and can generally get on with people..I'd like to go for a drink with Robbo (especially if his card's behind the bar), he sounds like a down to earth kinda guy.. In fact, a couple of yrs ago when he was playing great, you could see his nature, leaving King to run out by himself, punching Cerpy etc.. With the lack of confidence all thats gone, which is a shame, cos Spurs English backbone then seemed to really enjoy playing for the club.. I think the sale of Carrick really broke that up.

Most interestingly of all, he said that he would definitely be leaving in the summer and that Lennon, Dawson and Berbatov
were also leaving. None of them will be a huge surprise to anyone, but there you go.

All i can say is tell the FAt F### to piss of back to Leeds ! The others are a bunch of complete W#####rs.. I am still hurting from ther Newcastle defeat . We are not safe yet !!! :bang::bang::bang::bang:

Clearing up a few things vs. contradicting the really significant points.

Cheers for the update, mate, and it confirms what I think we knew about Ramos being respected - I was very surprised at that when you first said that the players didn't like/respect him, so I'm glad it's been ironed out.

Large pinch of salt taken!

Also if Robbo has mentioned players lacking respect for Ramos, i woul dnt mind betting that those players who do lack respect are the ones who have also been dropped from the team since he took chance.
Robbo, Chimbonda, now Lennon. Those who were automaticlly picked under previous managers????

All to easy for player to moan about the boss when thing are nt going their way

If anyone listens to the Phil Cornwell podcast, the latest one had a guy on saying he has great sources at WHL. he says he knows for a fact that players are not happy about life under Juande and training, and that he is not even there for the afternoon training sessions. he then went onto say he is not fully convinced about Ramos as manager so he probably is just shit stirring.

Talking in a pub!?!? What is this madness?!?!! :eek:mg::eek:mg:

It's not like he's discussing players contract details or anything

Its just a load of trivial crap... Robbo doing a Wenger impression and Ramos' nicknames are hardly gonna bring down the club

Someone copied the original post on COYS, as ITK from SC, and they had a 3 page thread on it before I told them that the poster had already updated some corrections and revisions....yesterday.
