Thanks for posting. But not for the first time, very little insight in this piece from the Athletic. I don't think there's anything in here we didn't already know, and there's basically no analysis.
Yeah I think this is a problem when Athletic writers need to continuously churn out long pieces about a single club.

End up with quite a few vague 'filler' pieces like this without much insight or new info. There was a United one I saw recently that rated all of their signings post-Fergie and it read like something put together by a teenager for their blog.

Would've been great if there were some new quotes from players or staff on how things were with Nuno behind the scenes, but was basically just a potted history or something that we all remember cos it didn't happen very long ago.

A cracking article from the Athletic about the chaos and upheaval we experienced last summer.

It’s a year today that we signed Nuno as manager. What a difference a year makes.

A timely reminder of the chaos that followed the disastrous year of Mourinho and the Fonseca-Gattuso shambles. Anyone who thinks Levy had a plan of succession in mind has a very short memory.

As good as this summer is shaping up to be, it’s worth remembering that this is our fourth consecutive main transfer window with a different coach!

It doesn’t mention a word about the city win, unbeaten run and MOM.

or did I invent / imagine the above. I can’t remember
Nope:

Won our first three games on the bounce. I remember the positivity in the ground when we beat City.

This is entirely my reading of what happened, but it seemed to me that the squad had moved on from Kane, we were expecting him to leave, and Nuno/Fabio were savouring spending the £100m or so on the new project. There seemed to be a contentment with it and we were starting well. That didn't happen though, Kane came back into the squad and threw everything for a loop. From that point onwards it all fell apart. I don't blame Nuno for it all, the entirety of last summer was a circus.

Leave this guy alone. He’s gone no need to keep shitting on him.
Agree with this but...

You can't blame Kane. He played in 2 of the 3 games we won at the start.

To be honest he would have been mad not to take the job. At the time he was appointed he was clearly down the list of who we wanted and in all honesty we went for the cheap option knowing once we got the longer term appointment we wanted (regardless of whether it was Conte or not) it was a cheap termination of contract.

He was shit though and so fucking boring.

But last summer was horrible - the whole Kane thing, manager search and uninspiring signings (Romero was a good one though). It wasnt a good place.

We all know who Levy wanted last summer. Half the posters on here wanted the same thing. Pretty much a done deal until it wasn't.

I remember when he left Wolves and my gonner mate was saying how we'd get him. All the way through to the day he signed I was adamant that that would not be the case. What a fool I was.

I feel so bad because I genuinely hate the bloke and he’s a nice guy
Why do we keep all saying he is a nice guy? Joe Hart and others tell a different story.

He is the worst manager we have ever had, absolutely clueless, the squad also hated him which was plainly obvious.

CBA to find the quotes mate but Joe Hart said that Nuno dragged him into his office and told him he would never play for us again. Didn’t want to discuss or anything just told him he had passed his best and that was it. Basically he was a dick about it

Tim Sherwood would like a word...

Having said that, Nuno was either the best hire, or worst hire for Spurs ever... Without the Nuno era, we don't get the Conte Era.

So basically the same thing Pep did to Hart?
