Florence is one of my favourite cities, I used to be a big Fiorentina fan in the 90's (Batigol, Rui Costa), I have a good friend from there, and they were the first team I saw play Spurs at WHL after moving to London. So many links to this tie, I love it and am really looking forward to it.

Their big local rivalry is Siena, if you want to try and curry favour with the locals.

I know there will be people out there that hope we throw the Europa League now but lets not put all our eggs in one basket, at the very least if we get a good result tonight it will keep the all important morale nice and high.

Good news is that whatever team we put out it will be different from last seasons - no Fazio/Chirches as CB2 or Stambouli as DM or the non scoring striker Soldado.

So the team is less likely to leak goals and more likely to score. Seems a good upgrade to me whoever plays :D:D:D:D:)

As someone else said, we only lost the last time because Bobby couldn't hit a barn door (bless his cottons).
He scored a brilliant volley in the first leg and then f*cked up the pass to Chadli (not helped by Chadli's run) in the second. I don't recall him having any other chances?

Is it bad that I'd already forgotten that Chiriches and Stambouli were ever part of our squad?

Quote on the tomb of Raphael, from the Pope:
"Here lies Raphael. For whom while alive Nature feared her beauty surpassed, and while dying, that she herself would die"

If Spurs win the league and I end up wanking myself to death, I hope someone says something nice like this about me

But six of that team are argueably in our first team now plus one squad member? and I reckon of that team Chadli, Lamela, Bentaleb and Davies will be playing again tonight. Possibly Eriksen, but I'm guessing he will be rested. Given there is bound to be a fair amount of rotation the quality we'll put out tonight will be about the same.

As someone else said, we only lost the last time because Bobby couldn't hit a barn door (bless his cottons). Fortunately, Son doesn't have the same probblem, so I think he will get one plus possibly one more from elsewhere. Just a case of how many Vorm lets by given he hasn't had that much to do of late.

Interesting game all in all and I'm loking forward to it as a small distraction from the PL.
Yes and that's why we should be confident.

We almost won with nearly one third to half of our team being shite, we should do much better when its's not.

Oh, and going back to the tourism thread at the start of this thread, anyone who is out in Florence:

1. Go to the Medici tomb...it's fearsome.
2. See David. Yes it's art but it's good art. Plus you can point at his winky.
3. Go to the Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco (the White Boar) - stonking food
4. Go inside the Batistero. Not as much about Gabriel Batistuta as I was hoping...but still good.
5. Get off your phone and go and enjoy Florence you mug!

That doesn't leave a lot of time for getting pissed.

I was in Florence the day the Calciopoli punishments were handed down. Imagine my surprise in the evening when I walked out of a side street with my then girlfriend onto a main street, looked one way and saw 1000 odd Fiorentina fans with molotov cocktails, flags, horns, hammers etc coming towards me, then looked down the other way and saw 100 Italian riot police with shields and batons also coming towards me. Fun times.

For anyone in Florence or nearby without tickets (for some reason), you are able to buy tickets at the stadium before the match starts, without a premium fee.

Out of interest, anyone know how many tickets we sold/how many have gone out there? There seemed to be a load of tickets available on Twitter the last few weeks, so assuming a lot of people just applied for the points. I reckon it'll be around 1000 which is a bit of a drop from the 2200 last season, but suppose with the way we were treated and the fact it's so soon after doing it last year that would always be the case.

I'm a little bit gutted not doing it again now after seeing some of the pics on FB and Twitter, seems as though they've relaxed the booze ban as well this time.
