What does Everton Sized mean these days. Is is 12,10, 6?? If the minimum does that mean an appeal could push if to 3 ?

If the salaries given on Capology can be believed , the wage bill of four Wolves employees , Sarabia, Semedo, Hwang & Cunha totals £15.4 million so that's the gate money paid out to just four people.
Clubs need to keep a check on spending but the problem is then they cannot compete with the clubs that can afford huge wage bills.
I guess the point is that if *all* clubs are forced to live within their means then Wolves shouldn't be any worse off. They won't be able to compete with the Uniteds of this world, but if Wolves and United are both allowed to overspend, Wolves still won't be able to compete with United, so they're no worse off in that regard.

Villa also in strife according to swiss ramble, without the owner constantly putting in money they'd be right up shit creek.

Don't pay to bypass the paywall for patreon, but twitter posts paint a picture!

It will be interesting to see how this works.......but at 85% it looks like it might be custom made to save chelsea and villa et al from punishment!

Wouldn't it hamstring them even more?

Spending on the edge of revenue consistently, if not over it!?

Possibly - it depends on how it is implemented. When virtually every team is run at a huge loss.....you know what I'm betting on?

My guess is that both Everton and Forest will get the same points deduction as each other this season so that the penalty itself won’t decide relegation places for them, if that makes sense.

Ultimately the big clubs are all going to have to comply with the UEFA rules which will be 70%* (otherwise no Champions League or Europa League). So even if the PL set the limit at a higher level than UEFA that'll only help the smaller teams with no European aspirations.

*The UEFA rules are 90% in 2023/24, 80% in 2024/25 and 70% from 2025/26 onwards

So forest and Everton, are they likely to get a points deduction and if so will it be this season?
The bottom is looking really tight and it’ll be interesting to see what happens, especially if it results in Luton going down because it’s been deferred to next season.

I think the penalty, if any, will be given this season, but the appeal process won’t be complete until after the season ends.

Too many clubs are having problems with the rules so we are going to change them, is not a great way to regulate any industry. Could also undermine future regulations.

I just hope any changes don't let Chelsea off the hook.
Isn't the rolling 3-year period of concern to them Jan 22 - Dec 24?
If the current rule is scrapped in June, perhaps only Chelsea's spending in the last 12 months would be considered (i.e. not including the ~£1 billion spent in the two years prior).

As far as I'm aware it's July to June........which is why they have 2 weeks when the window opens in June this year to have a fire sale before the end of that month.

Would be no surprise if there's a soft start to the UEFA version in the Premier League, just like it was for UEFA itself.
Which could give clubs 2-3 years to get house in order. Probably why it was voted through.

I see from that PL meeting still no agreement with the EFL over a financial deal , if they are not careful if and when the Football Regulator happens it will be done for them..

The Regulator will have a targeted power of last resort to intervene in relation to financial distributions, to deliver a solution if football fails to find one itself.
A mutual agreement amongst the football authorities remains the preferred solution to resolving the issue of insufficient and destabilising financial flows. However, the Regulator will have statutory powers to intervene on this issue, should certain thresholds be met. The Regulator will empower and encourage football to reach an agreement itself first, but provide a crucial backstop to deliver a lasting resolution if the football authorities cannot.
