For me in recent years Crouch's header against City, Paul Salteri winner against West Ham, Woodgates Winner in the League Cup final followed by Keane goal in the 4-4 soon after.
But Gazza's free kick is still the best for me, from what i can remember

We've had this thread before, I thought my opinion would change, but it hasn't. It's still:

As I was there - but then there was a goal by Keane against blackburn, I can never find the video, but someone takes a throw in to him, he lifts it over one defender, gets to the line then cuts in and does the keeper. True individual wonder goal

Still

Lennon's goal in the 5-1 arsenal game or Berb's free kick against the spammers. You just knew that was going to go in.

Bale's to beat Wet Spam at Upton in 2013. Everything about it, including the comeback, the timestamp, the sheer quality of the shot, the Spurs fans' reaction behind the goal, how much shit the Spam fans were giving, the reaction of AVB, the team's celebration...

These are the moments we as sports fans chase. Absolutely brilliant snippet in Spurs history.

Crouch header at City
Crouch at AC Milan
Gazza free kick at Wembley Semi
All meant we progressed and I squealed like a banshee for each one.

The memory of this is downgraded massively by the fact that Bale left and AVB's tenure ended in disappointment.

It really isn't. Or at least it shouldn't be, otherwise pretty much every Spurs memory is tainted.

I think its the proximity to the downward spiral. With Crouchs goal against city for example it was a gateway moment that led to a season of greater moments including VDV, bale inter hat trick, inter home game, AC Milan win and others. All of that happening afterwards secured the memory of the crouch goal.

After that Bale goal what happened? It was the peak basically, everything from that point was downhill.

Maybe I'm reading you much into it.

I saw the title, closed my eyes and the first goal that came up was Kanoute's goal against Everton at the Lane.

Hoddles volley back in 1979 v Nottingham Forest with Peter Shilton in goal. Can remember it like yesterday and will never forget it

Long ball down field from Milija Aleksic, headed on by Chris Jones to Gerry Armstrong who also headed it on to an incoming Glenn Hoddle at the edge of the box at the Park Lane end.

Glenda caught it sweet as a nut on the volley and it whistled into Shiltons top right hand corner before he could blink.

Absolutely brilliant

You can't live sports fandom like that though, or else you lose far too many wonderful moments. Yeah, there were some tough setbacks to come, but those moments later don't at all take away from that immense feeling at the time of the event. You can't let ensuing disappointments destroy the moments of joy, or else what then is left? Lifting trophies is great, but that's not what it's all about IMO. It's about moments like that one when you feel unadulterated bliss in watching your team prevail.
