Good point. Wasn't that for 4:3? Right on the edge of the box and he managed to get it over the wall and back down again. amazing skill

Yeah, remember the distress on their fans faces as didn't it pretty much condemn them to relegation or something?

" Is Gascoigne going to have a crack?.... he is you know, Oh I say, BRILLIANT!"

The most emotionally satisfying, but not my favourite.

The king of free-kicks is Hoddle, and the creme de la creme of them all is the one with Ardiles in the League Cup which everyone has seen a million times.

Ah damn, I always thought we relegated them. Terrible memory, I may be thinking of Charlton.

It's got to be Gazza. At Wembley, against the scum, just 5 minutes into the game. Unfortunately I wasn't at the match but watching it on TV and have never jumped so high off my seat celebrating a goal - touched the ceiling (and I'm a short arse)

Martin Chivers bent one around the wall on MOTD back in the 70's and the BBC had a camera behind the other goal (usually only had one or two cameras at a game). It had never been seen outside of Brazil before (bending a ball) and was hailed almost as black magic.

They showed it for weeks - anyone else remember it?

...oh and Gazza!!

I remember it well, a Rivelinoesqe banana kick is how I remember it being described by the commentator :ROFLMAO:

Gazza's against the Goons has to be the best though.

It's stuff the like of which has been mentioned in this thread that makes Spurs such a wonderful club to follow. Nowadays all the big clubs have their genius players, but Spurs have been bringing genius to the Lane and English football for decades.

I didn't witness Gazza's goal against the Scum in 91. Nor Big Chiv's banana shot (wasn't even born for that one). But I know about them and have seen footage of them and other moments of genius. From Gazza's absolute beauty, to Ricky Villa's dribbling mastery in '81. From Hoddle's gorgeous shot against Watford (or Oxford, depending on which you prefer :)) to Ginola's dribble and goal against Barnsley.

While the other clubs were happy to wallow in the football pitch mud, we skimmed above it. For me, THAT'S what being Spurs is all about - total footballing beauty and the jump of the heart when something sublime happens.

Being only 19, I guess yesterday's from Walker is the best free-kick I've seen. Also it might have been Ziege against City when we did our usual "crumble from being 3-0 up despite them having a player sent off during half time". That was a cracking strike.

People mentioning Jenas vs. the scum... wasn't that a 1-2 from open play with Malbranque, not a freekick?

Yes, last minute, too!
