So not a where do you think we will finish thread but a what would you take as a minimum requirement for the season.....i.e, would you be happy with a decent cup campaign but finish 5th?
Would you want poch to go if we have a stinker of a season?

Next year will be tough and not certain we will have a good Season again.
Things look good for us with a young squad that will be improving, and a couple of signings to freshen things up a bit.

We have a great team, and I think CL football will act as more of an incentive to be in it again the following season, so I'm hopeful that playing strong teams in that tournament won't hinder us too much.

Considering the likely improvements of other teams I'd be happy with a good run in the CL, a top four finish, and with a bit of luck a cup trophy.

Well seeing as we just singed Gotze and the next Van Nistlerooy today on Twitter, I reckon we are gong to win the fucking lot Geoff.

I'd be happy with a trophy, and I think if we bring in a striker ( Janssen fingers crossed!) as is looking likely we have a squad capable of silverware COYS.

Don't think we'll do anywhere near as well in the League as we did in the season just gone.

My realistic expectations all variables considered (ie Man utd, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are not going to be as shit as last season), I would not be disappointed with 5th and two good cup runs, winning one of them.

Anything better than 6th is still a good season for us. I expect that we'll look to pick up around 70 - 74 points.

Top 4 and get out the group in the Champions League I think. Hopefully some cup success on the side also. League aim is going to be difficult though.

Klopp's first full season, Mourinho back in the saddle at underachieving Untd and Pep taking over the reins at Citeh along with Arsewipe still around. Definitely a season to test Mauricio's mettle.
Top 3 finish and semi finals of the Champs would be acceptable.

This season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive and intriguing in a long time. Who knows how City and United will do with new managers but United at least are putting together a ridiculous team so both of those teams would be expecting to challenge for the title. Chelsea also have a new manager and no European commitments keeping them fresh in the league so you would expect them to be a lot better than last season and challenging for the title. Arsenal will most likely hover around where they always have, making top 4 but not putting together a title challenge. Liverpool tend to well in seasons where they don't have European commitments and with a full preseason under Klopp I think they would expect to be challenging for the top 4. And of course who fucking knows what the reigning champions will do.

There's probably 7 teams that will be expecting a title or top 4 challenge (West Ham probably consider themselves challenging for that as well but that's more delusion than expectation) so it's going to be a tough season with no guarantees that we'll be able to replicate last seasons result.

On us, I think there are a few unknowns. We have such a young squad that it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they could collectively improve so much and put together a genuine title challenge or still have some mental demons leftover from last season and slightly drop off.

I don't think 5th or 6th with a cup run and getting out of the group in the CL would be a disappointing season but I think it would be the absolute minimum requirement. If we don't make it out of the group though, with out greater squad depth I would expect us to go close to winning the Europa League.

Let's not underestimate the importance of a settled squad and system. City, Man U and Chelsea may well improve but they won't have that - who's to say they won't experience teething problems with their new managers?

We were brilliant at times last season and with the work we're doing to the squad, plus the experience of last year, I expect us to improve. May not translate into a top 3 finish but we won't be far off. I'm very optimistic for the season ahead.
