How long did it take Conte to switch systems when was the Chelsea manager? Was it after a couple losses and dire performances? I don't want us losing a game to be the catalyst for a system change, would like to see him try a 352 and build with that. It's not working out in our midfield currently.
Completely agree. Other teams know exactly what we're going to do and they have figured out how to stop it. Yes we aren't losing. Great. But even Nuno got 3 wins on the bounce last year. Conte is a way better manager. I am expecting that he will realize that we need to change things up.

We are missing Romero’s presence at the back and need better quality option as he does seem to pick up injuries.

We also missed Bentancur’s forward passes tonight.

I’m happy for us to come away with a point in games when we are not playing well. My issue is that this has happened quite a lot already this season (Chelsea, Forrest, Spam).

conte clearly doesn’t want to change our formation or tactics without his best 11 players on the pitch. Which is also a concern as it means we are a bit predictable.

343 works great when all of the front three are pressing hard, running their socks off, and continuously making runs, finding space.

Watching Son and Kane today was hard. Both were so sluggish and lacked passion. It’s when they play this way, we get overturned in midfield. Additionally. If the two CMs are struggling with control, passing, tracking, etc… then yeah, it is a recipe for being dominated throughout midfield

I’ve haven’t been happy with the style of play for about 3/4 years now if I’m honest, maybe even since we got to the new stadium we’ve lost that zip or ability to tear teams apart I don’t know if it’s the managers or the collective that we don’t have the quality.

But it’s not the tottenham way and it’s not enjoyable it’s bad when you are fighting to stay awake most games. Last 3 managers and even toward the end of poch us reign it was the same slow sideways backwards football maybe the quality drop off really is that bad since the the peak poch phase I don’t know.

I'd say it's the size of the pitch. Had to change game massively

When we beat Liverpool at Wembley 4-1 that was well into Pochs reign and the second season for Klopp. We were awesome that day and I believed at that point that Liverpool were way behind. 2 years later they won the champions league by beating us and won the league a year later. I remember Liverpool fans calling for Klopps head after that draw against West Brom. Conte has been here a year next month. He hasn’t walked into a side like the side he won the league with. He has different problems. We’ve looked magical and we’ve looked dirt poor in the last year. Liverpool didn’t look amazing until Klopps third year. But I’d argue that Chelsea side were amazing that year when they won 13 on the trot. We need the players. We ain’t gonna get the players in one window. Let’s acknowledge we don’t look great but acknowledge we are improving and with backing and with Conte staying over the next couple of years we might have a change around like that. People comparing him to Nuno I mean come on. I’m not a Conte fan boy by any means but at this point last season we’d won 3, lost 2 scored 3 and conceded 6 and were at sea.

Very much this. We also need a Perisic type as our RWB. Royal is actually really good defensively, but as we saw tonight, he sucks going forward, and if the opponent can pin him, Sanchez, and PEH into the corner of our half, we will turn the ball over 9/10 times. And 10/10, if Harry is running with his concrete boots on.

Confused how to move the team forward and feels his tactics aren't working anymore. Will go home tonight and study some of the suggestions on SC and try and implement them for the next match.
This is why I’m here.

I love him. His substitutions tonight were weird though. It's a shame Spence still isn't getting much of a look in.

Despite another poor/average performance we were undone by a lack of professionalism today. The goal for them was unbelievably sloppy. Very disappointing.

and we were actually on the front foot in the game, Hjojberg more worried about his boot then lloris kicks ball out, Hjojberg and bissouma don’t follow soucek and they equalise. We offered not much after that

Whilst I'm frustrated with the current performances I think this season will be a slow burner for us.

We've not seen Skipp. Lenglet, or Spence really yet. We're currently without Bents and Romero, and Richarlison and Bissouma haven't been fully integrated.
Once we've had a couple of months of midweek and weekend games I would expect all these players to have featured so we'll be in a better position to judge what line up gives us a performance as well as a result.

We started seasons slowly under Poch too remember. I’m convinced it’s because of the hard preseason. Keep the faith, we’ll get better.

If you had offered me these results at the beginning of the season for these 5 fixtures I would have taken it for sure.

BUT it feels like we are doing the same things each week, whilst expecting our performances to somehow dramatically change. "Once it all clicks" or "When the team gels" I keep hearing but I don't think it's going to be the case. Our issues are the same as they've been for some time and the same level performance for another 5 games could yield hardly any points.
I can see the areas to address in January already, a centre-half who is comfortable with the ball under pressure, a RWB (still) and a creative attacker.

Five games in. Unbeaten. And we have yet to play a game where we play the other team off the park. All in all, from that perspective, I think we are off to a solid start.

I know it stings a little cos Arse are kicking everyone’s ass. But they were also handed an incredibly easy first five games.

Lego Pep and his legion of lumpties will come back down to Earth in due time.

I know he won’t but the best we played at the tail end of last season was when we had Doherty playing. He acted as an extra player. As much as I have grown to like Emerson I think Spence or Doherty need to play. Kane dropping deep for Kulu and Son is good when they are both playing well but Son isn’t so time to match up the opposition and play Richy and Kane upfront with Kulu moving into a midfield 3. The width will come from Spence or Doherty.
What do I know though?

It’s the walking in to wall over and over and somehow expecting the outcome to change.
