Well essentially he just raised the tempo and pushed us further up the pitch.

I'm starting to wonder if this isn't actually the game plan for every game, although I think the players are taking it to the extreme and are too slow and passive than Conte actually wants them to be first half. Let the opposition huff and puff first half whilst we sit and counter, and then increase the intensity once they have started to punch themselves out. It's just a theory but it seems too much of a pattern for a man like Conte to have not done something about it if it wasn't intended.
I see the logic in what you are saying but could be a bit risky if the opposition goes in at HT 1 or 2 up.

Watched that tactics video. Was very interesting to say the least.

That xG stat doesn't surprise me as we have defended the box very well and I said the other day we kept Wolves to long range efforts or crosses which were dealt with. Defensively we have improved tenfold.

Tuchel’s written testimony makes him sounds like a 7 year old. ?

Is that a genuine defence by Tuchel?

Instigate a situation and then play victim when you get the confrontation you were looking for.

A really bad look for him.

It also may go someway to explaining why Dortmund couldn't wait to get rid.

Probably got the huff cause the tea lady wouldn't make eye contact with him whilst she was stirring his cup.

Just confirms him as as the whiny little creep everyone thinks he is. He’d have got far more respect if he’d just said “I acted in an un acceptable way and apologise.”

The need to not seem like the wrongdoer amongst football managers is ridiculously high. Most of them are Sociopaths. You'd never get Mourinho, Pep, Klopp, Ferguson or Conte ever admitting they were wrong about anything

This shouldn't be understated. It wasn't long ago we were conceding from calamitous errors every time the opposition attacked. And that was pretty much with the same defenders.

Just shows what good coaching, a coherent tactical plan, and confidence can do for a backline (Jose take note).

In terms of our own shots, what’s making the biggest difference here? Headers from set pieces? Presumably they are counted?
Headers only count as a half for xG due to the impurity inherent in the ball rising above waist height.

Really interesting.

It's almost like Conte is trying to stack the deck in our favour in any way possible... Who'd have thought it!?

I think stats like this are really telling. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he's talking about tactics etc. I bet there is some next level shit being spoken about.

I can't believe he still gets berated in match threads, tbh. He'll be many steps ahead of us armchair onlookers.

I mean, how has he set us up/what does he work on the players with to produce a stat like that?? Mind boggling.

The thing is, that stat will absolutely be no accident. It'll be meticulously planned and prepared for.

Bloke's a footballing genius.

Whilst very interesting it is not relevant to the question you replied to in relation to distance from goal of shots.

Very interesting. Ignoring the second half chances we conceded after moving to a back 4 against Chelsea and the goal, the 2 goals we conceded were set piece not winning the second ball goals. The koulibaly one was shocking defending, how is a cb free in the box is beyond me and the ward prowse one was unlucky as hojberg was well positioned but it fell to jwp and it was an incredible finish. But outside of that we haven’t really conceded top quality chances.
I agree we aren’t playing our best and it’s hasn’t really fully clicked into gear yet but it takes time and I’m sure soon our front 3 will click and fire us in a big margin.

It's a lot like the NFL. Every guy sitting in the pub thinks they know how to fix everything, but if you actually sat behind the scenes and listen to the elite minds of these sports, your head would spin.
