Don’t understand why Son was back on corners though after what Perisic was doing last week.
Probably because Perisic is one of our top 3 aerial threats. As others have noted, he flicked on the header for Kane's goal.

Whatever he did at HT was fantastic. Completely different team in the second half
Well essentially he just raised the tempo and pushed us further up the pitch.

I'm starting to wonder if this isn't actually the game plan for every game, although I think the players are taking it to the extreme and are too slow and passive than Conte actually wants them to be first half. Let the opposition huff and puff first half whilst we sit and counter, and then increase the intensity once they have started to punch themselves out. It's just a theory but it seems too much of a pattern for a man like Conte to have not done something about it if it wasn't intended.

Mourinho was slaughtered for that tactic wasn't he? ?

We also often started slow with Poch didn't we, and then would keep growing while the opposition tired out.

If it is by design it's the exact opposite of Arsenal, who come flying out of the traps but seem to get weaker in the second half. Apart from our crunch game with them last season of course, where we absolutely monstered them in the first half and had a training match in the second (y)

This is a good shout actually, as we’re all surely questioning why we appear so lethargic in the last couple of first halves. Conte would surely see that a decent team could potentially be out of sight against us by half time if we continue to be like that.
As you said, maybe the players are just taking it to the extreme and they just need realigning to the requirement.

To be fair, his didn't work, and we never seemed capable of upping it a notch.

It's not been a stellar start to the season in some respects, but in a funny way, it's encouraging that it hasn't been, and yet we're sitting fairly pretty.

IMO, It'll click better when Bissouma and (to a lesser extent) Lenglet get integrated

definitely a tactic - particularly in this warm weather
Works as long as defence doesn't conceded I suppose or the midfield get completely overrun but aint much fun to watch us be Stoke first half and City the second

True, though Conte's team struggled with that early on before the likes of Deki and Bentancur came in. It's not as if Lucas or Bergy suddenly found form, it was reliant on better players coming on to execute the game plan more effectively I suppose.

If you listen to Kane's interview after the Wolves game, he also talked about starting slowly and needing to work on that.

It was weird under Mou to see a Tottenham Hotspur team kick off and then RUN BACK to get into positions. But there is a logic and it has broadened our tactical horizons these last years.

In this first half I think it wasn't quite what Conte was hoping for though, but Wolves have good players.

The number of opposition fans on that going "warra trophy" and the like is just so sad. I know it's the summer holidays but good grief it's embarrassing.
It's all they've got. If we were midtable dross you can guarantee they wouldn't be going on about our lack of trophies - they'd be too busy pointing out that we were midtable dross.

We have to be much better than we have been to even consider dreaming.
But who say the other teams cannot be worse than us? All things are really relative isn't it.. Leicester didn't win the league by blowing everyone away. The rest of the teams being so poor had a hand in giving them the title.

True but theres no way we win the league playing like we have in the last 2 games, it just wont happen. However we showed at the back end of last seson that we are capable of much much better performances and I strongly believe we wil hit our stride, match and better some of those performances.

Was thinking exactly this whilst at the game mate!
