linhdi on coys: David Pleat has just said on BBC Radio that there is no way Dier is leaving. He added that we will be buying, that we'll get the players Poch wants, and we don't need to sell first. No mention of Walker staying though.

pleat still works for us doesent he? part time scout or something

Eric Dier wants Man Utd move: Tottenham star eyed after Nemanja Matic deal falls through

ERIC DIER has set his sights on a move to Manchester United before the start of the season

The England and Tottenham midfielder has learned that United bosses are interested in luring him to Old Trafford.

And Dier has told close friends he’s excited about the possibility of working under Jose Mourinho.

It is believed United boss Mourinho has turned his attentions to Dier after missing out on Nemanja Matic.

United were confident of signing Matic and held extensive talks with Chelsea about clinching a £40m deal.

But all that changed once United blindsided the champions over Romelu Lukaku and pinched him from under their noses.

United signed the Belgium ace in a deal totalling £100m to leave Stamford Bridge bosses seething.

It has resulted in the Blues blocking Matic’s move to United and left Mourinho’s men having to look elsewhere.

But Starsport understands senior figures at United, including executive vice chairman Ed Woodward, shave admired Dier for quite a while.

United believed it would be difficult to prise Dier from White Hart Lane, where Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is determined to hold onto his brightest stars.

It is understood Spurs value Dier in the £60m bracket, which is about £20m more than what United believe he’s worth.

Chelsea have changed their stance over Nemanja Matic after Man Utd nabbed Romelu Lukaku

But United still believe a compromise can be reached and know Levy might be willing to accept a bid in the region of £50m.

Dier, 23, has won 19 England caps and established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the top flight.

Mourinho needs someone in this role who can become a long-term successor to Michael Carrick and believes Dier fits the bill.

He earns £70,000-a-week at White Hart Lane and knows he could double his wages with a move to United.

Dier lost his status as an automatic choice of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino last season.

He faced strong competition from Victor Wanyama, who joined Spurs last summer from Southampton.

Dier was often used in central defence, but his preferred position is defensive midfield and this has caused him to consider his future at Spurs.

Now Dier is hoping Spurs bosses don’t price him out of a move to Manchester as negotiations between the two clubs begin.

Woodward has remained in Manchester instead of joining United on their pre-season tour of America and is believed to be keen to thrash out a deal for jetting Stateside.

No smoke without fire. Though we as a club may have the stance 'Not For Sale' that doesn't mean he's not told told MUFC via his agent he's open to a move. These stories have been doing the rounds since January odd, would MUFC still be pushing now without encouragement from Dier via his agent?

With us open to selling Walker, if reports are to be believed, to a direct rival that sends a message to the rest of the squad they could move to a direct rival too. We really need to make a stand this summer and NOT sell anyone of our players to any direct rival regardless of the price. Do we want to continue to compete at the top end and win trophies or just be a selling club to the usual trophy winners?

The Star and Mirror have been now trotting out the same story for nearly two months bumping the 'price' with each incarnation of the story.

60 mill?

Most laughable bit is looking forward to working under Mourinho.

Poch has made him and he isn't stupid enough to not realise that.

Guys- this Guardian article is written by Jamie Jackson, the most laughable "journalist" in fleet street. He is the clown who (without irony) wrote the infamous Mourinho "invincibles" piece (google it- its hilariously deluded) and the bloke is seen as a joke figure for his unabashed love for Mourinho and comical bias towards Man United. Once I saw his name on the article it was a sigh of relief- absolute BOLLOCKS from start to finish I guarantee it

To be honest, these two paragraphs makes me extremely confident he'll stay anyway:

Eric Dier is open to the prospect of a move to Manchester United and the club are pushing hard to make it happen, despite the Tottenham Hotspur chairman, Daniel Levy, having categorically ruled it out.

It is understood Woodward made a bid for the England player – on the instructions of José Mourinho – but Levy knocked it back. Furthermore, Levy made it plain he was not interested in selling Dier and United ought to take this as his final word on the matter.

To give further context, he (the journo) was at a Man United training session yesterday and tweeted: "Mourinho was instantly up and at his players today - super-focussed from 1st minute..."

Just check out his twitter feed for more cringe-worthy brown- nosing... pure proganda piece worthy of a North Korean press release- just another media mouthpiece for Mourinho

Exactly- The whole piece is designed to create a story where there isnt one. Typical of Mourinho to use the press like this to create pressure, but its simply not gonna work on Levy

Spot on this is why I'm so pissed about Walker, it sets a precedence. Once we do it once the others will get the same idea and it all falls apart. A few years ago when we sold Carrick and Berba, Man.U were miles ahead of us, not anymore and if we sell anyone to a rival it's a disaster.

Fuming if we sell Walker to City, off my rocker if we also sell Dier to Utd, it would send an awful awful message to the fans and I'm prettt sure Poch would leave.
