New deal worth £3BN, amazing increase from the current deal.

Sky got five packs (116 games) and BT (!) got the rest (38 games). BT also got pack A. Amazing.

ESPN is a good channel and I subscribe for other sports (NBA, NFL etc) in addition to the football but I don't see how they can survive without no EPL.

There's still the overseas rights to come, the increase is amazing.

I just don't understand how they'll be broadcasting, are they creating a channel or summin' now then or do they already have one I'm not aware of?

They'll create a channel dedicated to the EPL and it'll be on multiple platforms.

just read somewhere that the 2 most likely options were to create their own channel [possibly make it available to SKY, virgin etc customers [IMO]] or stream on line and charge for that.
Crazy how they've just suddenly appeared on the scene - havent seen them linked with bidding etc?

Everyone assumed Al Jazeera would come in and shake things up, its not clear yet whether they made a bid but there has to a be reason for such a large increase.

Ah ok thanks mate. Would be cool if they did some sort of deal for current BT customers. I'm just glad nothing changed on the Sky front.

Surely they're the reason!

Not sure what I'm gonna do now, I have sky sports and espn but i'm not going to pay for BT too, and I'd prefer to keep espn since they show other european football and nba. The thing is BT won pack A so I'm assuming they'll be getting some really good games.

So we could end up paying more for sky sports but not getting all the big games, or am I reading into this incorrectly??

No, your correct.

BT have to be competitively priced on Sky, it has to be less than £9 per month that ESPN currently is, especially as all they'll offer is the EPL. It better be in HD too (5.1 eventually).

On Virgin its completely different and with BT and Virgin hating each other they'll have to call a truce.

I think you're right. I hate the way they've split the games up between different companies. All it does is make the customer source from two different places increasing their monthly fee. If the prices go up a lot I'll get rid of it.
