So all bias towards the Chavs aside...Who should be England Captain????

I think Stevie G should be. I dont even think Terry is the best English CB so why he is captain beats me!

I think Gerrard conducts himself much better on the pitch too and if you are looking at club performances then he also provides more insperation to the rest of the team.

I think these are the only two real options for Mr Capello but i have added two others anyway,

Your views...........

Out of the choices above id have Gerrard.

Personally if all central defenders were fit i wouldnt even pick Terry in the first 11.

Out of the four posted in the poll I would choose Beckham.

He is willing to fly half away across the world to play for his country, so he obviously loves playing for his country. Gerrard moaned about being homesick during Euro 2000.

People in this country hate Drogbra and Ronaldo because of their diving. Hate to break it to England but Gerrard is just as bad. I remember his dive against us earlier in the season to get a free kick at Anfield, then their was that dive against Sheff Utd last season - the list just goes on.

The England captain should be a respectable figure, so that rules out Terry and Ferdinand.

Rio can't be captain because he was probably the only person to think it funny to do a mock kidnapping of Beckham a couple of months before a world cup and a few months after a police raid on a group who had intended to kidnap his children.

Beckham was a good captin for us, not sure how many games he would get.

Terry, Lampard and Ferdinand dont have their places set in stone for me, although they probably do with the FA...

So out of those it has to be Gerrard as he is the only one left.

personally would pick Gerrard, he's more of a leader than Rio, and Beckham wont get the armband back, Terry shouldn't even be in the squad (based on talent), So i'd go for Gerrard, he deserves a chance, preferably without fat frank alongside him.

Gotta be Gerrard.

Being captain surely demands some degree of intelligence so that rules out Rio and Beckham!

Terry is out as he wouldn't even be in my first 11!

Ferdinand.

Best centre back in the world and has led United well when he's been given the armband.

Woodgate...

Seriously though, Gerrard. Terry's attitude problem gets in the way.

Gerrard might well be a nice lad, but he's also thick as pig shit.

Where's Ledley?

Of the options, certainly Gerrard.

No votes for Terry. Let's keep it that way. :)

I chose Gerrard, but it was a lesser of 4 evils type of thing. What about Leds? The problem is that there really hasn't been anyone in some time (aside from Leds) that is captain material...its been too long since I have looked at an England captain and thought to myself: that man embodies all the best of English football, that is the man I want to represent the country on the pitch (and off). I could think that with Leds, though...

Is that a joke? Rio is blatantly the best English defender. The only players that come close are King and Woodgate, yet they have had too many injury problems to actually be considered. Carragher is what Michael Dawson will be in a few years, heart on sleeve but really not top quality (John Terry falls into this category as well).
