Just wondering if anyone has any links to compiled information regarding distances covered during games, for our guys ?

It's a stat that has always interested me, and I'm wanting to find averages for certain particular players ....

VDV
Bale
Sandro
Parker
Walker

are of the most interest, but all would be great

Im sure Zakora and Jenas would have been top of the lists, didn't mean they done much in all them miles travelled . I would say Bale, Parker, Modric and VDV would be our highest.

Had a look but can't find any site that has a comprehensive
day to day list or team by team.
A lot of sites do individual stats for one -off matches.
I think Bale's stats appear in numerous places.

I'm pretty sure Harry said the other day that Livermore is second to Modric for distance covered, in games they've started this year.

Thanks for the effort, guys. Disappointing that there is no compiled stats for us to look at, somewhere, as its a very interesting statistic. I was mostly interested in the amount of ground that VDV covers and whether that relates to him running out of steam a bit, and being subbed quite often.

Last game I came down for ( Man City 1-5 !), I was surprised by just how much closing down and running off of the ball that VDV does.

It is a shame we can’t easily find out that stat. they are obviously compiled as it’s been mentioned on TV and in regard to coaching. We can get access to other stats really quickly after a game but not distance?! They also measure intensity.. which when added to distance is a much better barometer of work rate. Intensity of running is measured on how quickly you cover the ground in relation to the fastest you can run. 75% or higher

Using VDV as an example.. if his stats showed he travelled 8,354m in the 65mins he’s on the pitch then how much of that was sprints compared to walking. For at least 25m’ of the scum game VDV moved at well under his capacity (closing down Song) if that’s indicative of his “running” then intensity statistics would help prove or disprove his work ethic better than just a distance stat on it’s own.

This old article touches on distance and intensity in the PL if you’re interested.
