Chosen. Basically loved Hoddle as a player so was drawn to spurs as a youngster. My dad supports Chelsea…

I have no connection with Tottenham. My family had no interest in football or any sport. Aged 12, at Christmas 1964, I heard on the news that Spurs had beaten Forest twice over the holiday games - which I knew nothing about. From that moment on, Spurs a were my team.

Inherited. Man Utd are the nearest PL club to where I grew up, and most of my mates support them or City. I've been lumbered with Spurs thanks to my dad and granddad who are from North London.

It sounds as if Hoddle has a lot of explaining to do!

Out of curiosity, does anyone have an opinion as to whether the club would mean more or less if you had chosen the club vs inherited?

The inherited path usually comes with lots of family ties and nostalgia that incorporates memories with loved ones. But willingly choosing your suffering also has its merits haha

Chosen.
I didn’t support a specific team, and used to just used say I supported England. Gary Lineker was captain at the time and he was my favourite player.
A school mate was from a family of Spurs fans, and said I should support Spurs as Lineker played at the time, seemed to make perfect sense to me, so that’s where it began, circa 1990/91.
My old man is one of 7 siblings, they all support different football teams, so no inherited teams there.

Good question. Mine is inherited, but also passed on. My dad was my hero so it was only natural the team he supported I would too. In fact, I knew Tottenham Hotspur before I knew football. Some of my early memories were FA Cup 81 and 82 celebrations and by UEFA cup in 84, I watched the drama unfold and was hooked. Fast forward to now and both my sons are Spurs fans and are by my side in the Paxton every home game. Sometimes my dad joins us too. Wouldn’t have it any other way…

Chosen-born and raised in Islington living amongst Arsenal supporters-chose Spurs at a very young age. I can remember why but will not bore you with it.

I chose, my dad was a season ticket holder at QPR, started in the 80's with their plastic pitch and one player stood out from all the rest... Glenn Hoddle. showed his skill even more than most as control was a big parameter needed to play on the rock hard pitch

Surprised to see the poll at 50/50. Why would anyone choose to support this club? :ROFLMAO:

I inherited it. Obviously.

My grandad on my dad's side supported us, think there's something to do with Pat Jennings involved but I'm not exactly sure.

My granny, my dad and all his siblings supported us, my cousins all support us too (of those that take interest in football).

I was anticipating something like an 80/20 split toward inheritance. But there you go ?

My parents were not into football in the slightest. All the exposure came from school and a neighbours teenage son who was a Gooner. He took me to my first ever footy match, Arsenal in the FA cup.

Even at a very young age, still having barely started Jr. School, I remember looking around me and realised that these strange, odd, barely human individuals standing all around me, were not normal.

It wasn’t long after that match that I became a Spurs fan and have been one ever since.

My parents weren't into football but I grew up in Enfield and quite a large percentage of my primary school in the 70s supported Spurs. When my Arsenal supporting cousins asked me who I supported I chose Spurs as I hated the colour red.
That was the beginning of my relationship with Spurs so technically I chose to support them although I have since found out my dad's side of the family were all Spurs and as a teenager his brother took him to the occasional match at the Lane so inheritance may have had a part to play as well.
My partner is a life long Spurs fan so our three boys will hopefully inherit their support.

Who was the bigger club in the 70s?
