My old man is a die hard Hammer, as are the rest of my family. He was brought up in Upton Park/East Ham. My young days were watching my dad play over the memorial grounds at West Ham Station, then waiting outside the Brit in Plaistow whilst he got pissed with his mates. One Sunday afternoon i popped my head in and was in awe at who he was drinking with. Lampard, Devonshire, Parkes etc, all the west ham lot from the early 80's. It was Lampards pub. Young frank was there too, a bit younger than me. He was absolutely crap at football, always crying too.

Unfortunately for my dad, Hoddle was doing the business in 81 and 82 and he was my hero. From then i supported spurs and it broke my dads heart. Of course he told his pals and the next sunday i was ribbed from pillar to post by the west ham players about supporting spurs. He accepted it though, and I'm so glad I'm not one of them.

His drinking pal now is a fella who owns the car firm which shuttles all the players about. The stories he tells, it's a different world to us mere mortals. The money they owe, the excuses they use after a night out, what they get up to after a match etc. He showed my old man this mini bus he converted into a game centre. It follows the team bus to and from the game. If the players don't fancy the coach, they can go in this thing and play fortnight or COD all the way home.

I'll give you a tale about Antonio and why he never again played for England again after 2018. Apparently he refused point blank to donate his share of the player pool for that international to charity, which is the done thing on international duty.

One other story about a player who owed this fella 2 years worth of cab fares, car rentals, parking tickets etc. Came to about 125k. He paid it all, in cash.

Nothing that juicy I know, these are tame compared to others he's told me, but these fellas are old school and can't believe what today's players get away with.

What would this be classed as?
My mum who didn't support any team or know anything about football (neither did my dad) brought me a spurs kit when I was 4 because she thought it looked nice (1982 hummel light blue away kit) and I stuck with them from there... I suppose it was fate
Great strip I can see how that would be decider.

Born White Chapel and brought up in Bethnal and walthamstow, could have been any number of London clubs. The folks were from the NE... and Middlesbrough would have been an even worse fate....

He took me to the west ham cup parade in '80 and to watch a few spurs games. Took me to a few other games. But spurs stuck, a quick trip to Tottenham on the 123 bus from where we lived in E17. Job done. Was a mixture of practicality and some good players made spurs stick.

As above, I've brainwashed my kids into following suit. Poor things.

Supporting Spurs because you grew up in the area makes sense or inheriting it from your parents but when it is neither and you CHOOSE to support Spurs, that has to be one of the dumbest decisions anyone can make right? Well, thats me ?

The two things I most obviously inherited from my old man were a love of Spurs and a dodgy knee.

One often makes me cry out in anguish, with the pain causing me to shout and swear loudly. The other is a dodgy knee.

My great grandad was a fan, grandad, old man etc

My old man always said we were the best in the world, mind you he used to say Vanessa Feltz was a corker too.

I absolutely love and hate being a Spurs fan. I think we can all secretly agree!

Turned on the telly in 1981 and saw Spurs win the FA Cup Final. Became a fan because of that win.

If only City had won.

Sigh.

Yeah, I mean growing up would have been easy for me to choose Leeds here in Australia with the Kewell - Viduka connection. Guess Spurs are an upgrade on that !

My dad was born in White Hart Lane and grew up in Edmonton, and a diehard season ticket holder for many a year. He started to take me aged 10, when we had that one season in Div two. I've passed down the Spurs curse to my two children, who at times wish things could be different!

Great granddad had a leather shop on Tottenham high road and made and repaired the footballs (I have a pic dated 190something somewhere), granddad got original shares, passed down to my dad, passed down to me and my bro (500 each if you’re wondering).
