Rabiot is by all accounts a DM and this kid an AM, so no conflict there. We also need to acquire and/or develop a couple of promising options for each position, not simply expect every good looking youth prospect to make it. And continue to use the loan system well. We shouldn't be blinded just because two or three have recently come through, it's highly unusual.

I can assure you my stance was not developed from watching our latest wave of youth come through, but rather from what I've read about the player who seems to be prefer a CM role in getting forward rather than specifically an AM. I'd suspect Poch would intend to play him in his double pivot, therefore while being of a varied breed, would play in the same two positions as Rabiot. More important than any of the above for the immediate future would be wages and playing time. If we loan Alli right back it isn't a concern of course, but then there's also the question of remaining available funds to address other positions I'm sure Poch wishes to address.

I'm all for us pursuing promising youth, but it's important to keep mind of the context of restraints and current squad.

Yeah but those articles are from October...

Yes, I see that. I hope, given the positives we are hearing about him that BR's interest has cooled. Of course, this may happen now the window is open. £9m seems a lot for a young kid. I assume that's an optimistic number generated by his PR team and would include add-ons.

Looks like a Mitchell scouting story to me.

I'm all for bringing in kids. Him and Rabiot look a big talent. The way Dele showed for the ball against Man U showed a lot of confidence.

With that said though i do believe we need some experience in the squad..

If we can replace Paulinho, Capoue and Holtby(who looks like he'll stay in Germany), than 2 kids and an experienced PL CM would be perfect

As another MK local, I've seen him play a few times.
Very good player, lots of potential to be a big star.
He signed a new contract at MK in September to ward off interest from Liverpool and other PL clubs that have been sniffing around.
That said, if the Dons continue to play as badly as they have done in the last 2 games (Friday night they were abysmal), then I do think he will push for move.

No doubt in my mind that he will head to Anfield, but I don't think he will be signing any kind of deal in this window though, even if it results in staying at MK on loan.

This is going to sound all billy big bollocks but if we really rated him and wanted him, he would be ours. I'm not sure our scouts have seen enough or feel he has sufficient talent. This isn't a bad thing, it means we are looking at a higher level

I know a few people that know this lad and they have said for most of the month that he won't be going anywhere until the summer. From what they have been told he wants to work his way up through the divisons so can see him going somewhere and being loaned to a championship team for next season. In late december Liverpool were looking to do a deal but notyhing has seemed to happen, by all accounts B Munich are watching things and the end game is for him to end up there in a few years. But this is all 3rd hand info so could be complete rubbish

MK Dons just lost Benik Afobe who was leading scorer for them, so there's no way they will be selling this lad right now.
Karl Robinson will resign on the spot if Winkleman let's his 2nd highest scorer go in the same month (not that he had any choice over Afobe).

Wouldnt suprise me if Newcastle loan him back for the rest of the season, which would suit Robinson. They did a deal like that with Lacelle's and Darlow.

Seems that Robinson is happy to sell at the right price.
Dons have put a valuation figure on him, stating that Fabian Delph was sold to Villa by Leeds for £8 million, and Ali has surpassed Delph's achievements at the same age. They know they won't get that much for him, so I suspect the figure will be £5 million.

Still don't see us showing any firm interest though.

If we're going to be spending serious cash on a young English talent from another club, I'd prefer Bishop anyway. Big fan of his style as I think it's what we're missing in midfield, and you have to appreciate that he's a Spurs fan given what our own academy products have done this season.

He's a spurs fan? Do you have any source on this?

Bishop.

Beyond hearsay, no I do not. But that'd be a strange thing to make up for a lad at Ipswich who is being looked at by Arsenal and Liverpool.
Judging from good ol trustworthy youtube this kid looks spectacular at 18, we really should consider picking him up. Helps our chances that we've been implementing more youth into our squad too. Have we been linked to Bishop?

Dele Alli also looks great though, could be the CM we've been looking for.

I like Bishop because he provides a bit of speed, drive, and ability to work through tight spaces, while also being good in the tackle. Exactly the kind of player we're missing atm.

As far as links, only thing I've seen is us mentioned with several other of the big clubs in following him. Nothing more concrete than that though unfortunately, and I highly doubt we'd pursue the option considering the price and we're already loading with very promising looking talents at his position. I do still wish we'd pursue it though, as he seems to have exactly the very skillset we're lacking in midfield.
