No, but a goalkeeper that is able to move off his line is always a help.

Since we haven't got one (apart from Gomes, who clearly won't be playing), it might be an idea to play a CB who can, and does, dominate in the air.

I'm very worried about AVB's judgement to try to offload Dawson and Huddlestone straight off the bat.

Bizarre! Reminds me of some of his baffling Chelsea decisions.

I really hope he comes through

why? Huddlestone hasnt played in a year, he isnt going to be sharp, in fact he looked damn right awful in preseason. AVB isnt trying to sell him, he is sending him out on loan to get sharp. seems perfectly reasonable and logical assuming we get 2 midfield players in by friday night.

as for Dawson well he has some sell on value, and he is behind Kaboul, Vertonghen, for sure and likely Caluker. Sure he is a fan favourite but he doenst have the ability of those 3. As for Gallas well he is worth nothing, but the man is still a winner and massively experienced, think people reading to much into the 1st couple of games of the season, AVB went with him away to newcastle rightly in my opinion instead of throwing a new signing right into the fire, the Kaboul injury was just unfortunate, if he wasnt injuried I'm certain Gallas would have started on the bench.
No point having someone worth 9 million sit it out on the bench when there are interested clubs

How is Caulker above Dawson? Kaboul has had one good season so it's risky to think he's now a reliable, top player. Gallas is 35 and could retire at any time.
