Bent's a finisher, with no possession. I've always thought he could do Keane's job as well as Keane, but we need someone to do Berbs.

He marked Belletti about as well as Keane would have, too.

I love his enthusiasm, and he took his goal well. But he has an awful first touch and perhaps that is something he needs to work on, because he can look like a Championship player at times.

i thought he played well today too, his best performance so far. He got involved alot more, tried to make things happen, whereas before he just seemsed to be too shy to try and make something happen for himself.

maybe this had something to do with Pavy arriving creating some competition?

he worked really hard, I've said it for a while Jol's tottenham never suited him, it relied alot on the ball into the feet of the forwards and them make the magic happen, as our midfield was pants creatively.

Now we are relying more on delivery from the midfield, and when DB has to come wide he seems to have had a ood game today holding it up and laying it off, but then there was no-one in the box to cross to.

I think when Pavlyuchenko comes in or whoever he will do better, hes n suited to the lone striker at all.

Hopefully yhis performance should shut some people up, he has always given 100%

but one note is he really should be up the pitch ready for the counter from corners! nice airshot!

ALso so glad Gunther FINALLY got his chance, and Zokora moved the CM where he did really good.

Sorry to spoil the Darren Bent love-in, but I thought he was pants today.

Granted he had scant support and was often on his own, but when did Bent hold the ball up???? He spent the game challenging for flick-ons that were pointless wins as he didn't control the ball and had no-one to head the ball too. He spent the game passing the ball back to Cech. He scored a good poacher's goal (after an awful first touch) which was the sum total of all our attacking efforts. Watching yesterday reminded me of the Mido era where we'd hoof the ball long onto Mido's head, and watch him 'flick on' to the CB's or opposing 'keeper. COntrast with Berbatov who 9 times out of 10 would retain possession from which we could launch an attack and yesterday was a horrible regression backwards 2 seasons.

Defensively, I thought we were pretty good yday and like you Hybrid was pleased to see Zokora, Gunter etc played in the correct positions. However, Bent had a 'good game' ???
