Surely surely surely any new manager will put Benny above him?I voted to get rid of him. I wouldn't mind him as a backup, but he thinks far too much of himself to be a squad player. You can clearly see by his body language and attitude on the pitch that he thinks he's the real deal. He thinks he's made it and is too good to be anything other than a first teamer. At a team like Sunderland, fighting in the lower half of the table, sure. Not for us.
As a winger he wasn't good enough, so Redknapp shoved him into left back. I think he's even worse there. He'll make bursts forwards but he has no work rate in wanting to track back, and his positional sense is woeful. Simply put he went through his entire youth career never having to develop defensive abilities, and that's why he hasn't got them. Naughton clearly can't play left back, the side doesn't work for him, but he's a better right back than Rose is a left back.
I'd rather give Fryers more time to develop there. Sadly, I don't think we'll be bringing in a new left back this summer. I don't know what our priorities will be, in all honesty, but I've got a feeling we'll end up sticking with Rose.
