IF we actually want him and that he's a first choice, definitely one we've chased hard and been desperate to sign all along signing, then i'd be staggered if we lost out to Arsenal. What can they offer that we can't ?
If they are happy to only take him for a year without a guaranteed option to make it permanent and we aren’t.

This arsenal interest feels like the same 'interest' we had in Saliba. Someones tryna move things along.

All the previous stories seemed to come out of AS. Marca are known to be a bit of a mouthpiece for Madrid. Could well be games.

That said as with Chelsea and Kovacic last year, if Arsenal are happy to take him with no option and we aren't they'll get him. Could make sense with their financial situation, however in typical fashion it'd hardly be dealing with their weaknesses!

MARCA is RM’s puppet - probably just throwing out bullshit hoping it’ll give them leverage with Señor Baldy. I remember reading Spurs and the other south London club almost never go after the same players, but that may have changed since Emery started steering the sinking ship

Would be nice to have a Spanish midfielder finally, Iago Falque and Christian Ceballos didn't quite compare to Silva, Fabregas, Cazorla, Mata etc.

To be fair, it makes a lot more sense for him to go there if all he wants is a loan to make him return to Madrid in better shape. He would probably play more for them than he would here and if we won't just loan him (rightly so) then it might be his only option.

Gooners truly getting a small club mentality, if they would loan with no option.

I think at this point they're just desperate to get back into the CL. It's probably a smarter move for them than for us as their squad needs a lot of work with less money knocking about.

Yeah I agree, it would be a bloody good move for them. Good temporary replacement for Ramsey, while they focus their limited budget on strengthening the areas that they are desperate for.
Trouble is, I'm not sure they've currently got the wherewithal to do that.

I think there's a good chance it'll happen. The lad wants to play in the Euros and has a decent shot at it, as long as he's playing regularly and playing at a great level.

His options seem to be;

1. He stays at Madrid and he gets limited game time. Unless he's really confident he can change ZZ's mind.
2. He wants a one-year loan deal and nothing less due to wanting to stay at Madrid. Therefore, we rule ourselves out which means he either sits on the Madrid bench for another year or another club has to come in for him.
3. He ends up at someone like Arsenal or Milan, who have no CL or European football respectively, meaning he likely gets ignored by the Spanish selectors.

If Poch is giving him assurances that this is the club for him to blossom then he may well say goodbye to Madrid and look to establish himself at our club all the while giving himself a great chance of getting in the Euro squad.

Seems to me that its either Ceballos or Lo Celso, unless Eriksen goes. I wouldn't be shocked if we're letting it out that Ceballos is close to persuade Betis to sell now or retire from the game...

I also don't pay too much credence to the Liverpool links as they are supposedly not that interested in signing any high profile players this summer other than a Sturridge replacement.
