I agree in essence, but he became fantastic at the role he was given. He won the ball back and moved it, he drove forward, he even began to pick out some excellent passes.As much as Sissoko was brilliant last season, if we want to start consistently controlling games in midfield then I don't think he should be a guaranteed starter. His passing came on leaps and bounds and his bursts forward were great, but he's still quite erratic in possession and unimaginative on the ball. He'll start plenty of games, but there will also be plenty of matches better suited to other midfield combinations.
He may not be the most incisive passer in the world, but he was performing at a very high level. He will play a significant role again this season.
