He is nothing like Ndombele, he is not powerful or a tackler or a fast paced dribbler. Far far more similar to CE especially as CE is none of the aforementioned
I haven't seen much of him, but would you say he's more likely to be an alternative to Winks, rather than an Eriksen replacement?

He is an AM, that makes things happen, neat, creative passing, can dribble and shoot too.

Like for like is definitely more Eriksen than WInks.

I have seen next to nothing of him but from youtube videos he definitely looks more like Winks than anyone else in our team to me.

He’s not really either. Winks is more of a #6 who recycles possession a la Carrick or Jorginho. Eriksen is at his best as a #10.

Ceballos isn’t really much of a goal threat and while he’s played #10, he’s at his best in a box to box #8. He’s an excellent dribbler but not in the powerful way like Dembele or Ndombele, he’s very good in tight spaces and evading defenders with feints and stuff.

He’s also a scrappy defensive player despite being slight. I noted previously that when he was at Betis playing full time, he was a top 5 midfielder in La Liga in tackles per game with over 3. We haven’t had a player get over 3 a game since Dembele in 15/16.

While he’s nowhere near as good as the two players I’m going to compare him to, in terms or role and unique dribbling ability he reminds me of Frenkie De Jong and Modric with less passing range.

Ceballos looks more a replacement for 2018/19 Eriksen (slightly deeper, more playmaking)

Lo Celso looks more a replacement for double figures G&A Eriksen

Both seem pretty versatile though.

I think the role you've described for Winks is the one he ended up playing a lot of last season because of the thinness of our squad. IMO his natural position is in a more creative role which is very similar to Ceballos.

I have to say I really like Winks in the #6 role in a 3 man midfield. I think he's had some of his best performances there. I didn't follow his youth career so much but that does look like his best role to me these days.

_________Winks________
Ndombele_____CE/Ceballos/GLC

That looks a pretty slick midfield to me.

I agree with you and of Eriksen were to leave I'd be happy with a prospect like Ceballos coming in and Winks being the DM. A set up similar to this:

---------------------------------------Lloris-------------------------------------
RB--------------Vertonghen---------------------Alderweireld---------Rose
---------------------------------------Winks------------------------------------
--------------------Ceballos---------------------Ndombele-------------------
-------Lo Celso---------------------------------------------------Dele-------
----------------------------------------Kane-------------------------------------

Backup/ rotation options:

------------------------------------Gazzaniga----------------------------------
Aurier----------------Foyth---------------------Sanchez----------Davies
-----------------------------Dier--------------Sissoko-------------------------
-----------Lucas-------------------Lamela-----------------Sessegnon-------
---------------------------------------Son-----------------------------------------

Ndombele 22, Ceballos 22, Winks 23, Lo Celso 23, not only would this be a midfield packed full of creativity it's a midfield that can stick around together for years

Absolutely I can't remember a time we've had such strength in depth

Got Clarke who at 18 is a huge prospect and if the rumours about the Sessegnon brothers are true that'll be 3 18 year olds to add to the likes of Skipp & Parrott long term as well. Etete as well, it's great to see us mixing young talent with ones who can impact the team from the off.

Totally agree with you, I'd rather keep him and add one of Ceballos or Lo Celso. There comes a point where we have to make a decision either way however, and the longer it drags on without him signing the worse position the club is in.

It's in both Eriksen and Spurs' best interests to try and resolve this early, this issue is the opposite applies to Madrid!

Players running down contracts is the way of the world what we need to do is attract free transfers also like Juve and Bayern do good enough for them good enough for us!

No I dislike how eriksen flakes out on his whole season before announcing he wants to leave. Anyway I’m just saying that’s what we’ll have to wait for if we’re going to sign him, not that he should be doing it

not being funny but only Son, Toby and Jan were our standout players last season that came back from the WC, the other 9 had pretty up and down seasons

Having read the AS article I think those quotes aren't misleading either, just missing the word 'almost' in front of convinced. Eriksen must be off if so. It's the top story on AS.
